Week 3 - Matilda Bullock Week 4 - Daniel Bridge Week 5 - Joshua Brown Weeks 3 & 5: Brax Hinchliffe Week 4: Claire Bridge On Tuesday 19th February, our students attended the Bendemeer Preschool to join in their reptile show. Selected students had a chance to get up close and personal with a range of reptiles and learn some interesting facts about them along the way. Matilda Bullock and Daniel and Jacob Bridge represented Bendemeer Public School at the PSSA Swimming Carnival on Friday 22 February. Although the students didn’t make it to the next level, by all reports, they swam well and represented our school with pride. Well done Matilda, Dan and Jacob! Thank you to Bec Bullock for the photo.
The K/1 class were invited to the Bendemeer Preschool recently to join them in role playing the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’. The students watched and listened to the story first, before heading outside to hunt for the bear where they went through the snow, sloshed through the mud, splashed through the river, tramped through the long grass, balanced over the big bridge and snuck through the forest to find the bear hiding in the cave. Our students had a ball! Thank you Renee and preschool staff for involving us in this fun event. Matilda, Jacob and Jayden travelled with Mrs Magann to Nundle Public School last Tuesday to attend a Leadership day where they engaged in team building and problem solving activities and listened to inspiring motivational speaker John Coutis. Read their recount below for the full story! On Tuesday 26th February, Year 5/6 went to Nundle for a leadership day. We saw a man with no legs. His name was Mr John Coutis. He taught us not to be a bully and to be the best people we can be. He talked about his life and how he got picked on and when he wanted to amputated his legs. When he was born he was so small he could fit in the palm of our hands. The doctors said that he wouldn’t live a day but that day went by. Then they said he wouldn’t make a week and that week went by. Then they said that he wouldn’t make a month and then that month went by. Then they said he wouldn’t make his own birthday and guess what – that birthday went by. One day when Mr C was in class he needed to go to the toilet so he crawled along the ground and some bullies had put some thumb tacks on the ground and he got thumb tacks all in his hands. He tried to pull them out but they were so deep he couldn’t get them out of his hands. He went to the school nurse and they put Dettol on his hands. Mr C told us about how people picked on him and got tape around his mouth and hands and chucked him in a rubbish can and lit it on fire. After that we broke into some groups and did a whole bunch of activities like no armed baseball, putt putt, rhythmic gymnastics, wordle, stack the cups and kayaking relay. It was fun to join with other students from different schools. Thanks you to Mr Gadd and the students at Nundle for organising the day and inviting us to join in. We hope you enjoyed reading. By Matilda, Jayden and Jacob
