1 About GYE Zone Global Youth Entrepreneurship (GYE) Zone is an educational organization based in Silicon Valley, US. Through the authentic learning approach, GYE Zone aims to prepare high school students for college success and career preparation through extracurricular activities that instill in them an entrepreneurial mindset, 21st- century skills, and the grit for breaking barriers and embracing lifelong learning. Our GYE Zone is led by scholars, entrepreneurs, and top executives from Ivy League institutions and Silicon Valley organizations. 2 ABOUT GYEC Competition Overview Global Youth Entrepreneurship Competition @ Silicon Valley welcomes teenagers from around the world. This is the space where learning passion thrives and ideas blossom. Bring your initiatives to us and we will help you cultivate them through interactive workshops and individualized coaching. Throughout the competition, you will have the opportunity to work alongside talented peers to take on problem-solving challenges, learn valuable insights from successful entrepreneurs, and explore the entrepreneurial cultures through the Silicon Valley visit. Our goal is for you to have a better understanding of your core values, strengths, and areas of improvements, so that you can excel wherever you go. Throughout the competition, candidates will have access to workshops on Entrepreneurship Mindset, Design Thinking, Marketing & Finance, and Leadership for SDGs as well as individualized coaching sessions.

The UCSB program is not included, and participants need to apply and pay for the program separately. • Participants who enter the Final Round can apply for the UCSB program without submitting standardized tests (such as SAT/ACT, TOEFL, IELTS etc.) • After completing the GYEC Workshop Series and UCSB Program, participants will receive TWO transferrable college credits, authorized certificates, official transcript from UCSB, and recommendation letters from UCSB professors/GYEC Committee.

12 2020 GYEC WINNING TEAMS Team H.E.L.P.I.N.G The Homeless Backpacks As of now, there are more than 500,000 homeless people in the United States and more than 1.5 million people worldwide. To reduce inequality (one of 17 SDGs), this project designed a backpack for the homeless, including some daily necessities and a blanket. These backpacks will be distributed to homeless people through various relief stations to help them through difficult times. GYE AWARD Team Fantasy Politics Fantasy Politics App is a platform that can help more children and young people learn politics and understand politics, and can use the political knowledge they have learned. This project is designed to solve the UN's 16th Sustainable Development Goal-Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. This software will provide future leaders with more relevant education to promote social development! UNIVERSITIES’ CHOICE COMPANIES’ CHOICE Team STEAM Squad STEAM Squad aims to achieve gender equality in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. This project is designed to address the 4th and 5th Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations—Quality Education and Gender Equality. According to the 2015 data, there are only 24% of female workers in the STEAM field. This software is specially designed for girls aged 5 to 10 years old, providing them with a platform to explore these STEAM professions. Team Green Monkeys GreenYard Enterprise (GYE) is a sustainable backyard system design. This project is designed to solve the 11th UN Sustainable Development Goal-Sustainable Cities and Communities. According to statistics, food waste accounts for 14% of the U.S. municipal solid waste stream. Especially during the epidemic, this data continues to rise. GYE is a product that can turn kitchen waste into a kind of backyard fertilizer, thereby turning a modern city or community into a sustainable community. MOST POPULAR

16 2020 GYEC US Division Competition Schedule • Participate the GYE Competition Orientation to learn 2021 GYEC and UN 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). • Form 2-4 participants teams and decide competition projects1 that align with 17 SDGs. Preliminary Round • If participant registers as individual, he/she can choose three goals from Registration and 17 SDGs and the GYE Committee will help arrange competition teams. Requirements (Online) • Jun. 14 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time: Submit READING DECK (1- Mar. 1 – Jun. 14 minute video or 8-pages Slides illustrating competition project). Final 1. All participants can choose the competition projects by themselves or they can choose one of the projects from 2021 GYEC projects pool which provided by GYEC Silicon Valley Mentor team. All team projects should be aligned with at least one goal of 17 SDGs. 2. The Entrepreneur Mindset Program will be provided by University of California, Santa Barbara. This program is not included in the Final Round Registration fee. If participants want to register for the program, they need to pay extra program fee.
