Historic Barn Theatres: A Brief History Before the days of the bright lights of Broadway and Playhouse Square, actors entertained audiences in smaller, quaint venues, including many rural barns. Lake County is proud to be the home of Rabbit Run, one of the nation’s last remaining barn theaters. Located in Madison, Rabbit Run Theater hosts nearly 10,000 patrons annually. Additionally, the theater focuses on introducing children to the performing arts. Many young, aspiring actors and actresses introduced to the theater at Rabbit Run will go on to star in their middle school, high school and college theater productions. Grand River Valley Wineries: Crafting Our Culture Lake County has quickly become known for its wine industry featuring nurseries that grow grapes, as well as wineries producing award-winning wines. See a Sunset at Headlands Beach State Park Recommended by the Locals Home of the “Remarkable Sunset,” Headlands Beach State Park is the longest natural beach in Ohio and is ranked as Ohio's #1 beach. The mile-long beach attracts two million visitors a year from the U.S. and Canada. Whether you’re a “beach bum” or prefer to hike and explore, Headlands Beach has something for everyone. Visitors will find plenty of free parking, restrooms, concession stands, and changing areas for swimmers or sunbathers. Experience The Grand River Valley Wineries Ohio is ranked in the top ten wine-producing states in the U.S. and Lake County is the proud home to eleven wineries, including Ohio’s largest estate winery and family vineyard, Debonne Vineyards. The Grand River Valley’s location near Lake Erie makes our soil ideal for growing a variety of grapes like Concord, Niagara, Delaware, and Catawba, as well as European grapes like Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc, allowing our vintners to create a wide variety of wines each year. Many of the wineries provide live music and entertainment with picturesque views, making them a hit for relaxing afternoons, bridal parties, and get-togethers. The Grand River Valley Ice Wine Festival is one of Ohio’s most celebrated winter traditions. Each year, local wineries come together to celebrate the region's famous ice wine. During the event, participating wineries offer samples of their ice wines along with a complimentary appetizer. In past years, our wineries have also featured fun activities like ice carving, dog sledding, and marshmallow roasts. MyLakeOH.com 25
