If you can't make it to the event, run on your own time and make your donation through The Banquet's website at http://thebanquetsf.org/donate Event Description: The Run for This is a 5k- 10k or 1-mile fun run/walk. This is always held on Thanksgiving Day. It can be on the day or at your own convenience. The route is set on the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. Gather in the Nordstrom Johnson Building and the run will begin just outside the parking lot. There is ample parking and the route is along a paved path. All proceeds benefit The Banquet feeding ministry. Run for Food is a no frills fun walk/run and is The Banquet's largest fundraiser! The event has been taking place annually since 2004. Depending on the weather, 400 to 600 runners will participate. For every letter written, Macy's will donate $1 (up to $1 million nationwide) to Make-A-Wish, including Make-A-Wish South Dakota, who grants wishes to kids across our state. On National Believe Day, Friday, December 6, Macy's will donate $2 per letter, up to another $1 million nationwide. This is a great project for schools, daycares and organizations to write a letter to Santa, while also helping to make wishes come true for kids with critical illnesses. The Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society hosts display of model railroads in a Christmas setting. Trains At Christmas is a great time to shop for your train enthusiast. This year Trains At Christmas will be held on November 23rd and 24th. Doors open on the 23rd at 10:00am and close at 5:00pm, on Sunday the 24th, doors open at 10:00am and close at 4:00pm.
