Nature Trails Self-Guided Walking Tours Grab a copy of the Self Guided Walking Tours and enjoy a day taking in the sights and sounds of Carleton Place! Enjoy a historic nature walking tour and/or historic heritage building walking tour down Bridge Street. Copies are available at the Carleton Place Arena or Carleton Place Visitor’s Centre. Mississippi RiverWalk This nature trail runs from Princess Street to Anthony Curro Park. This is Nature Trail #1 on the self guided Walking Tour. This trail is perfect for the history buff, or anyone wanting to learn a bit more about our town’s unique location. Enjoy the smells, sights and sounds of the Mississippi River. Anthony Curro Park Located on Stonewater, this scenic nature trail takes you right alongside the river. This trail also loops with the Mississipp River Walk Trail, making it a wonderful walking and running route. O-Kee-Lee Nature Trail A spacious nature trail, perfect for dog-walking or jogging. Enter the O-Kee-Lee Trail via Centennial Park and enjoy a riverview seat on the benches along the trail. Riverside Trail Discover the historic Carleton Place Canoe Club, learn about the downtown core, and finish up at the scenic town boat launch. Trans-Canada Trail The Trans Canada Trail is a 18,078 km recreational corridor winding its way through every province and territory, linking 800 communities on route. The local section of this trail starts at the intersection of McNeely Avenue at Cavanagh Road. Parking available. The Rotary Centennial Trail Enjoy a 7 km stroll along the Mississippi, connecting the village of Appleton to Carleton Place. This trail runs just below the McNeely Avenue Bridge at Highway 29 to the junction of Hillcrest Drive and River Road in Appleton. Roy Brown Park Trail This trail has extended in length to approximately a 3km loop. This is a beautiful, quiet trail, which will have future expansions in 2018. You’re invited to discover the beauty of Roy Brown Park. Sonnenburg Woods Located at 15 Bates Drive, this is a natural, non-maintained trail. Whether you’re walking or bird watching; this is the perfect trail to enjoy nature’s beauty.
Public Parks and Playgrounds Riverside Park, 175 John Street This park is located on the west end of John Street and runs along the Mississippi River. It includes two boat launches, a beautiful beach, large picnic area, two play structures, and a splash pad for families. St. James Park, 54 Bell Street Located along the north side of the Mississippi River, enjoy sitting and watching the river flow by. This park is adult oriented, and features the Carleton Place Cairn, which consists of stones from 16 countries and is a Carleton Place treasure. Centennial Park, 169 Joseph Street On the north side of the Mississippi River, Centennial Park includes a place to swim, a picnic area, and a soccer field. This park also has a small dock for recreational canoe/kayak usage. Hackberry Park, 91 Mill Street Located on historic Mill Street this park features the rare and beautiful Hackberry tree, thought to be a legacy from our nomadic First Nations Peoples. Enjoy a picnic along the Mississippi River with a view of the dam. Memorial Park, 36 Franklin Street This park lies in the centre of town right beside the library, a perfect place to sit and reflect with the memorial cenotaph located in this park. Anthony Curro Park, 42 Stonewater Bay The park includes play structures, swings, a basketball court, and a nature trail that runs alongside the river. This park also features an outdoor rink in the winter months. Begley Street Park, 75 Neelin (behind the Arena) This park is located behind the Carleton Place Arena and includes a play structure designed for all abilities. This park will be further developed in 2018. Willoughby Park, 296 King Street Located on King Street, Willoughby Park has a structure designed for all abilities, ample green space and several picnic tables & benches. There is also a paved pathway connecting neighbouring streets. Carleton Place Dog Park, Edmund Street Located behind the Carleton Place Pool, this fully enclosed park also has bench seating and garbage cans.
Public Parks and Playgrounds Train Station Park, 132 Coleman Street This park has a play structure and a small paved pathway around the play structure and has a picnic area. Commons Park, 132 William Street This park offers two play structures, a basketball court, large sandbox area, and benches. Ferrill Park, 451 Thomas Street This park offers a safe playground for children, complete with a variety of creative play equipment and lots of space for group activities. Findlay Park, 48 Charlotte Street This quiet park includes a play structure and bench area. Hendry Farm Park, 274 Preston Drive Located beside a natural backdrop of a wooded area, this park features a children’s play area with swings. McNeely Park, 24 Alexander Street Located in Mississippi Manor on Alexander Street, this park includes play structures, swings, large picnic area, and a basketball court. This park also has the court and posts for volleyball, just bring your own net! Westview Park, 152 Dunham Street This park includes a brand new play structure, ample grass area for free play, an adult basketball court, and a smaller basketball court for children. Johnston Street Park, 100 Johnston Street Located on Johnston Street, this park offers a safe playground for children, complete with a variety of creative play equipment. Giles Park, 24 Lochard Campbell Way Visit our newest part in Carleton Place. This park has a small pathway around the stormwater pond and also has a play structure suitable for children of all ages and abilities.

Docks and Public Boat Launches A public boat launch is available at the West end of Lake Avenue. 2017 Fees are as follows (Prices are subject to change in 2018): Single day: $8.00 Season pass (resident of Carleton Place):$46.50 Season pass (non-resident): $85.00 Season passes can be purchased at the Town Hall between 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. Single day passes can be purchased at the boat launch. Public Dock The Town has docking at Riverside Park, near the Lake Avenue West boat launch.There is also two municipal docks located off the public parking area across from the Town Hall on Bridge Street. There is also a small dock at Centennial Park for recreational canoe/kayak usage. Carleton Place Canoe Club 179 John Street, P.O. The operations of the club centre around the sport of Flatwater Sprint Canoe and Kayak Racing, yet the club offers a wide range of sporting and recreational activi- ties. Programs operated by the club itself include racing and recreational canoe/ kayaking instruction as well as adult programs including Dragonboat Racing.
Riverside and Centennial Beach Riverside Beach is equipped with a play structure, splash pad, washroom facilities, picnic tables and trees to provide cool shade on a hot day. Just across the river from Riverside Beach is Centennial Beach. Enjoy the day relaxing in our picnic area and cooling off in the Mississippi. Both beaches are open from mid June to the end of August. During this time, lifeguards are on duty from 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Please note that hours may be reduced due to inclement weather or beach closure due to unsafe bacteria levels. Water quality is tested by Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit. All patrons must respect closure signage. Please call the pool at (613)257- 1005 or the beach at (613)257-4137 to confirm. Splash Pads Riverside Park has a Public Splash Pad that is open from June to October of each year (weather permitting.) The Splash Pad is push button activated to turn on, and is a family-favourite activity in Carleton Place. This splashpad was upgraded in 2017 thanks to a Canada150 Grant, and now has 8 new features! If you see any concerns with the Splash Pad, please call the Recreation and Culture Department at (613)257-1690. An exciting service offered at the Carleton Place Day Care Francis Street Location for the summer is the option to rent the play yard with splash pad for birthday parties on weekends. CP & Beckwith Heritage Museum 267 Edmund Street, Carleton Place Info: (613)253-7013 http://www.cpbheritagemuseum.com Spend an afternoon visiting the Carleton Place and Beckwith Heritage Museum to learn more about the rich history of Carleton Place. Erected in 1872 as the original town hall, the building was home to the community offices, an upstairs meeting hall and a lock up. Converted to a school in 1879, it served the community as Victoria Public School until 1969. Wheelchair accessible. Market Square Pavilion The Market Square Pavilion is home to exciting events such as the Farmer’s Market, CP Cruise Nights and Music at the Market. It is equipped with washroom facili- ties, electricty and water access, and a beautiful roof to provide shade and protect any event from rain or snow. Town Hall Square Located just behind the Town Hall on Mill Street, the Town Hall Square is situated right on the Mississippi River. Ideal for an individual relaxation spot or group visit. Enjoy the shaded seating, washroom facilitiies, and lifesized Chess & Checker Courts.To rent this facility please contact the Arena Staff (613)257-1690. Pop in and say hello! The Visitor’s Centre still contains a small exhibit from the Roy Brown Museum, and a larger exhibit can be found at the Carleton Place & Beckwith Heritage Museum. The Visitor’s Centre is also home to the Right Bike Program, which provides daily rentals of bicycles allow patrons an opportunity to experience Carleton Place by bike! Carleton Place Community Labyrinth Come and visit our Grass Labyrinth which is cared for by the Labyrinth Committee. All are welcome to walk the outdoor grass labyrinth at any time. The labyrinth is an ancient spiritual tool which has been used for over 4000 years. The labyrinth pattern is similar to a circle, one of nature's most basic forms, a symbol of harmony, grace and transformation. One entrance point guides the walker through a series of switchbacks that leads eventually to the center of the pattern. Outdoor Rinks Carleton Place has three outdoor rink locations, which are maintained by community volunteers. They are located in Anthony Curro Park on Stonewater Bay, Woolgrowers lot in front of OPP/Ocean Wave Building and at the Carambeck Community Centre. Without the support of volunteers; the residents of Carleton Place would not have the opportunity to participate in this great outdoor activity. Rental Facilities The Town of Carleton Place offers a wide variety of community halls and rooms that are available for rent from the municipality. The Bike Pump Track is located in between the Carleton Place Arena and the Carleton Place Curling Club. It can be accessed via the Carleton Place Curling Club Parking Lot, the Mississippi Riverwalk Trail, and the Begley Street Park. Carleton Place also now has a temporary skate park located in the Arena Parking Lot between the months of May and October. The skate park will remain at this loation until a permanent location is established. Hockey & Skating in Carleton Place The Carleton Place Arena is home to the Carleton Place Kings (Minor Hockey), the Carleton Place Cyclones (Girls Hockey), and the Carleton Place Skating Club. Collectively, they offer skating programs for competitive and non-competitive skaters from ages 3 to 18. Whether you want to learn to skate or score the game winning goal, Carleton Place has the organizations to keep you on the ice and having fun. Ball Diamonds The Town of Carleton Place has 4 baseball diamonds that are available for leagues and rental. The Brick Dust, Civitan and 180 diamonds are located in front of the arena, and the McLaren diamond is located at Carleton Place High School. If you would like to organize a league, rent a diamond or the batting cage, please contact the Recreation and Culture Department at (613) 257-1690. Tennis Courts The Carleton Place Community Tennis Club is a group of dedicated tennis lovers who are working to promote tennis and develop programming at the Carleton Place Tennis Courts. The tennis season runs from May 15th to October 15th (weather permitting). You can join the CP Community Tennis Courts: -As a member who wants to play with family and friends -As a member who wants to participate in Club activities Keys and tags are available through the CP Recreation and Culture Department at the Arena. Single, Family, and Senior Memberships are available for purchase starting in April, 2018 (prices subject to change be confirmed). Single Day Passes are available for $10.00.
