Gisborne - Round 4 Welcome to the Round 4 of the NZ Offshore Powerboat Championship proudly brought to you by McCann'ics ENZED and Out East Racing. Fuel from BP to Go Kaiti, 146 Wainui Road – Approx 1km from the Tatapouri Fishing Club Accommodation – Portside Hotel Engineering/Hydraulic Requirements – McCann'ics Enzed Equipment Hire – Martins Hiremaster Sunshine Brewery, 49 Awapuni Rd, Ph 8677777 MEET AND GREET - FRIDAY 23RD MARCH 2018 Meet & Greet will be held at the Tatapouri Fishing Club at from 5pm, at the Shark Bar. 6pm there will be a lucky voucher draw ( Fuel - BP Kaiti, Drink Voucher - Tatapouri Fishing Club) STREET PARADE 10am CBD Boats and support vehicles will leave from outside Tatapouri fishing Club at approx. 9.45am. Due to Council regulations all people taking part in the parade must stay in their vehicles until we get to the start point in Grey Street, maps will be available at briefing, once at Grey Street, you will be able to ride in or on top of your boats for the rest of the parade route. Parade has been restricted to walking speed only, and is a good opportunity to handout sponsors flyers, posters etc. Please ensure there is a person to walk on either side of your boat with Fluro vest on, for safety reasons. This year’s parade will be in conjunction with some Jet Ski enthusiasts who will be doing a 10 min race between our two races. BOAT PARKING AND LAUNCHING OF BOATS Boats can be parked at the end of the Esplanade, by the launching area, this area is covered by Port CCTV, and will be checked randomly by security guard. The Carson's will be parked on site overnight as well This area is under redevelopment, please respect other ramp users when parking.
ENTRIES - REGISTRATION Day entries and Day Licences - Please help the Bus people by bringing your Day Entries Printed out and filled in. Day entries boats to be pre-race checked by Phil Mudford. Championship boats please bring your Pre-race Scrutineering forms marked off to Registration prior to Briefing time. Registration will be at the race Bus Saturday morning from 8.00am. Day entries and Day Licences - Please help the Bus people by bringing your Day Entries Printed out and filled in. Day entry form has been included in this pack. Trailer boats are to use the main ramp, just past Tatapouri Fishing Club on the Esplanade. The Crane from CR Taylor’s will be available adjacent to the Boat Ramp from 10am onwards on Saturday 24th March. All Boats that require weighing, this will be handled by NZOPA Scrutineer, who will advise when and where. SET UP OF TEAM TENTS Tents and Marquees will be allocated on the grassed area in opposite the boat ramp. Best viewing of the race is from Midway Beach. PRIZEGIVING AT TATAPOURI FISHING CLUB The Saturday night prize giving will be held in the Main Bar, at the Tatapouri Fishing Club, dinners are available from 6pm onwards, prize giving will start approx. 6pm. ACCOMMODATION For any teams that have not yet managed to secure accommodation please try – Portside Hotel BOAT RIDES FOR SPONSORS A few of the sponsor’s have expressed the desire to have a ride in a boat, at this stage we are going to do this between 2-4pm on Friday 23rd March. Shannon and the Race for Life team has offered to help with this, but would dearly love others to give us a hand if possible, as this is the highlight for the sponsors. We have 12 interested in rides at the moment, but this could change closer to the race. BP to GO KAITI have offered to supply fuel vouchers to offset some of the costs involved with taking sponsors out. RACE DAY OPERATIONS PLAN th GISBORNE 24 March 2018 0800 Scrutineering of day entry Race Boat begins 0800 Race course begins to be set up, buoys are laid 0850 Race day entries close 0900 Combined briefing at Tatapouri Sports Fishing Club Ramp for all race competitors, Mark & Patrol boats 0945 Street Parade assembles and departs to start of parade 1045 Launching of boats commences at Harbour, Tatapouri Ramp 1130 Mark & Patrol boats arrived in allocated positions 1130 Patrol boats begin clearing the race course of non-official boats 1150 Race boats arrive in designated milling area 1150 Harbour master clearance to begin race start sequence 1155 Officer of the day informs the race starter to begin the start sequence procedure 1200 Race One STARTS 1230 Race One FINISHES 1315 Race Two STARTS 1345 Race Two FINISHES 1350 All race boats complete the event and return to launching locations. 1355 Race course is decommissioned and packed up 1400 EVENT ENDS Note: All boats that have been advised they will be weighed by Race Scrutineer, make yourself available before you exit the water.
