WOMENS ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS COMPETITION REQUIREMENTS INTERNATIONAL – GSNZ STEP 10 requirements LEVEL 6 – GSNZ STEP 7 requirements LEVEL 5 – GSNZ STEP 6 requirements LEVEL 4 – GSNZ STEP 5 vault and STEP 4 UB, BB, FX requirements LEVEL 3 – Routines in this manual* LEVEL 2 – Routines in this manual* LEVEL 1 – Routines In this manual* * No gymnast who has ever competed in WAG Level 4/STEP 4 or above can compete in Levels 1, 2 or 3. No gymnast who has competed WAG Level 1-3/STEPs 1-3 can compete in Levels 1 or 2. Level 1 is for athletes who have never competed before in a club gymnastics competition. Please note: For all Women’s Artistic Gymnastic competition requirements, including specific apparatus and artistic deductions, and the International and Level 4-6 routines refer to the WAG Sport Development Committee STEP Manual which is available on the GSNZ website at: http://gymsportsnz.com/page/womens_artistic_gymnastics_wag.html THIS DOCUMENT IS SPLIT INTO TWO SEPARATE SECTIONS: 1) COMPETITION REQUIREMENTS (GUIDELINES TO HELP BUILD ROUTINES), AND 2) GENERAL APPARATUS INFORMATION (GENERAL RULES FOR EACH APPARATUS)
LEVEL 3 Eligibility: For students and beginners with some gymnastics knowledge (recreational) VAULT D Score BARS D Value = 5.00 Score Value = 5.00 Vaulting Table Height: 3 or 4 layer box Composition Requirements: Mats same height or higher than box. 2 Vaults – the best score counting Complete omission incurs a deduction of 1.0 Two feet takeoff, Handspring over the vaulting box to flat back Circle up to front support Immediately cast and execute a back hip circle Cast and squat one leg through to stride support Change grip and mill circle forwards. Roll over front leg to front support (arm and leg roll over together. High cast and push off backwards to dismount.

LEVEL 2 Eligibility: For students and beginners (recreational gymnastics, novice, dance experience) VAULT D Score BARS D Value = 5.00 Score Value = 5.00 Vaulting Table Height: 2 layer box, Composition Requirements: beatboard Mats same height or higher than box. Complete omission incurs a deduction of 1.0 2 Vaults – the best score counting From a short run take off from one or two feet Circle up to front and using underarm action, swing to support handstand on box top, With extension through shoulders, prop off the box to land on back, body fully extended. Immediately cast hips off bar Immediately cast hips off bar and execute a back hip circle High cast and push off backwards to dismount.

Return through sitting position to lie on back, join legs and bending knees push up to i. Quarter turn sideways on toes joining feet with arms moving to low front oblique. j. Lower heels and dismount bridge – hold 2 seconds. with hollow chest jump backward with half turn in air to face front, h. Lie flat and immediately sit up to crouch with pinning ears. Stick landing. toes on floor and hands around knees. i. Lift legs to V balancing with arms sideways. j. Bend one leg under, raising arms forward and upward, come to stand with toe pointed at back. Close feet.
SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS WOMEN’S ARTISTIC GYMNASTICS Routines for International and Levels 4-6 are based on GymSports New Zealand’s Women’s National STEP Programme, introduced in 2011. Leotard INTERNATIONAL GSNZ International Levels, STEP 10 STEP 10 requirements. and IDP 10. Current Club gymnasts competing Team and Individual Competition. Leotard LEVEL 6 GSNZ STEPs 8, 9 and IDP 6 & 8. STEP 7 VT, UB, BB, FX requirements Previous Club gymnasts who Team and Individual Competition. Leotard LEVEL 5 competed GSNZ Levels 7, 8, 9 and STEP 6 requirements 10 and have since retired, and current STEP 6 and 7, IDP 3 & 5 gymnasts. Previous Club gymnasts who Team & Individual Competition. Leotard, Bike Pants LEVEL 4 competed GSNZ Levels 5, 6 and 7 STEP 5 VT requirements and have since retired, and current STEP 4 UB*, BB, FX requirements STEP 4 and 5 and IDP 1 & 2 *only 1 glide swing required gymnasts.
