#1 Community Update Project: #H0180 March 2018 Mayes Canal Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge Stage 5 of the Mooloolaba to Minyama Separated Bikeway Sunshine Coast Council, in conjunction with the Queensland Government’s Cycle Network Local Government Grants Program, is constructing a new pedestrian and cycle bridge across Mayes Canal. Bridge lighting The bridge deck will feature environmentally friendly, low-spillage lighting from two overhead light poles. The bridge handrails and decorative panels will feature subtle lighting designed to add visual interest and highlight the bridge’s architectural features. All lighting has been designed to ensure safety and visibility for bridge users while minimising visual impact on surrounding residents, fauna and marine life. Park upgrades Landscaping upgrades will be undertaken in the adjacent River Esplanade and Bindaree Crescent parks. Approaches to the bridge will include new concrete pathways, new park furniture (including shaded seating areas), and new planting to garden areas.
