We are happy to announce a German language course in online format for youngsters! Here’s a great way for youngsters to spend part of their free time. Learning a language can be exiting - as you will discover at the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan! Get to know others of a similar age and enjoy the experience of learning German together! FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS What is Webshop? WEBSHOP is an e-commerce platform where you select, book and pay for your courses. What is the enrolment procedure? The enrollment for A1 level courses is on first-come-first served basis via WEBSHOP on our webiste. The course fee is payable at the time of online registration. We accept payment with credit/debit card. By making the online payment automatic acceptance of the terms & conditions of the Goethe-Institut is applicable. Your payment will be processed by the Goethe-Institut e.V. in Germany. The payment will be made in EURO. Please use a credit/debit card which is enabled for international transactions. The Goethe-Institut cannot refund any processing fee and/or exchange rate differences which might be deducted by the credit/debit card provider during the transaction. How can I pay for the course? The registration is to be done via webshop through our website. Minors can not pay for the course. The steps for registration will be available in a PPT on our website. What are the technical requirements? For attending the online live sessions, you will need the following: Computer/ Laptop/ Tablet/ Smartphone Internet connection Headphones with mic The course can also be done on Mac or Windows 10 platform. What would be the teaching language? The medium of instruction will be German. English will be used only if required. How can I order the books? The books can be ordered directly from Goyal Publishers (please check the details on our website). The books are not included in the course fee. How can I have access to Zoom? The link to Zoom along with all necessary instructions will be shared by the teacher once the course starts. How does one have access to the online course materials? Course materials will be available from the day the course starts till two weeks after the course ends. Hereafter the online course room is archived. An extension is not possible. What would be the duration of each live session? For level A1 live sessions are of 135 minutes on both Saturday & Sunday. These sessions are held in Zoom.
How can I clear my doubts, if I have any, in between my live sessions? Will the teacher be available throughout the course, and not be restricted to only during live sessions? Teachers are available through E-Mail to clarify your doubts. Queries can be posted in the students’ forum and the teachers will answer them. Assignments need to be submitted within the given time. The teachers will give a feedback after going through the assignments submit- ted. Can I book two levels simultaneously? No. One has to complete each level and then move up to the next level. Only those course participants, who have actively attended 75% of the live sessions are eligible for the next level. Also candidates who have passed the Goethe - Zertifikat examination of previous level, may join the next level. However the certificate should not be more than 6 months old. Alter- natively you can join a course based on the result of our online level assessment test. How are the timings for the online live classes decided? The classes are held as mentioned on your booking confirmation. An orientation E-Mail will be sent prior to the course start. Will a certificate be provided on successful completion of the course? If you complete 70% of the assignments and attend 70% of the live sessions you are eligible for a participation certificate. How long can one still access the course material to review revise? The course materials are archived after 2 weeks from the course end. An extension is not possible. Can I join an online course after doing an offline course from Goethe-Institut? Yes, you can, provided you submit the participation certificate or the certificate of ‘Goethe – Zertifikat ‘examination of previous level. However the certificate should not be more than 6 months old. Can I join an offline course at Goethe-Institut after completion of an online course? Yes. You will need to have a valid participation certificate of previous level not more than 6 months old and secure 60% in the exam. Can I appear for the exam after attending the course? How do I register for the same? Yes, you can appear for the exam after the course. You have to get in touch with your near- est Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan in India and register for the examination separately by paying the examination fee. The international examinations are not conducted online. You have to be physically present at the examination centre. Will I be considered as an internal or external candidate? You will be considered as an internal candidate till six months after completion of your course.
I have learnt German from a private institute/teacher/self. Do I have to start from the A1 level again? If you have prior knowledge of German, you will have to appear for a level evaluation test. This will be conducted online. Registration for the online level assessment test is possible upon a payment of 1.000 INR. Can I continue learning German after a gap of few months? Yes, you can. If the gap is longer than 6 months, you will have to appear for an online level assessment test upon the payment of 1.000 INR. This test provides you the current level of your german language proficiency. How much time do I need to devote for this course? This varies from individual to individual. However it would be ideal if you can devote on an average 4 – 5 hours every week over and above the class timings. Whom can I write for further queries? TERMS AND CONDITIONS 1. General Requirements All courses are designed for adult learners. Participant must be at least 17 years of age (young learners‘ course: 13 years) and a proof of age should be furnished at the time of registration. 2. Registration Procedure The enrollment for the A1-C2 level courses is on first-come-first served basis via WEBSHOP* on our website. The courses can be booked and the payment can be done online. Level Test Students having prior knowledge of German and desiring to join a higher-level course or students with a gap of more than six months from their last Goethe-Examination have to take the level assessment test prior to the registration. Placement in higher course levels is based on the result of the level test conducted. 3. Terms of Payment The course fee as well the examination fee is payable at the time of online registration. We accept payment with credit/debit card. By making the online payment automatic acceptance of the terms & conditions of the Goethe-Institut is applicable. The payment can be done on Webshop (Visa or Master, credit/debit card). If full payment is not received by the due date, the participant loses the right to participate. Your payment will be processed by the Goethe-Institut e.V. in Germany. The payment will be made in EURO. Please use a credit/debit card which is enabled for international transactions. The Goethe-Institut cannot refund any processing fee and/or exchange rate differences which might be deducted by the credit/debit card provider during the transaction. 4. Course Fee The contractually binding fee is the fee stated in the price list at the time of application. Unless stated otherwise the books must be purchased separately. Cancellation and Refunds (Courses) In case of cancellations following deductions are applicable: a) Up to 4 weeks before beginning of course 10% of course fee b) Up to 1 week before beginning of course 20% of course fee c) Up to 1 day before beginning of course 30% of course fee d) After course begins 100% of course fee. Cancellations must be submitted in writing and refunds shall be initiated within 30 days after receipt of the written cancellation request. If enrolments are insufficient on the starting date, the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan reserves the right to cancel or postpone the course. In this case we will offer the participants the opportunity to move to another course or to receive a full refund of the course fee. Should the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan cancel a course, the full course fee shall be reimbursed.
5. Examination Fee The contractually binding examination fee is the fee stated in the price list at the time of application. Only those who have paid their examination fee in full are eligible to take the examination. Course participants up to 6 months after the end of the course can take the international examination as an internal candidate. Cancellation and Refunds (Examinations) The fees are based on the regulations that are currently in effect. Only those who have paid their examination fee in full upon registering may take the exam. Examination fee is non-refundable. If an exam is not taken for reasons of illness, 75% of the examination fee will be credited only once for the next/following examination date, provided a medical certificate has been furnished prior to the commencement of the examination. Should a participant be excluded from the exam (see Section 11 of the exam guidelines of the Goethe Institute), the exam fee will not be refunded. 6. Course Participation Certificate / Prerequisites for registration for next level Participants with minimum attendance of 75% are entitled to an “Attendance Certificate”. Examinations are not mandatory. However participants have to pass the international examination / Goethe Zertifikat for the current level to qualify for the next level. The passing percentage for all the examinations is 60%. 7. Class Size Our courses have minimum 14 and at most 22 participants: a) Level A1 to B2: minimum 18/ maximum 22 b) Blended Learning: minimum 14/ maximum 18 c) Level C1 & C2: minimum 15/ maximum 20 If enrolments are insufficient on the starting date, the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan reserves the right to cancel or postpone the course. In this case we will offer the participants the opportunity to move to another course or to receive a full refund of the course fee. The choice of class and the chosen time slot are binding. Changes are not allowed. 8. Copyright: all rights reserved. It’s not allowed to reproduce the course materials, in any form (printing, photocopy, microfilm or another procedure) or to use electronic systems to duplicate or manipulate it, without the explicit permission. Use of the same (in the form of screenshots, photos, recordings, storage, distribution etc.) by the course participant or any other party beyond the scope of this course is prohibited and an infringement of existing copyright laws. the contractual parties).
9. Liability of the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan The liability of the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan and its staff shall be limited to intent and gross negligence. The Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan will have no liability for cancellation of its services due to force majeure (e.g. unrest, act of war or terrorism, natural calamities, epidemics, pandemics and all other circumstances beyond the control of the contractual parties). Should such cases of extraordinary circumstances or events occur or should there be a change in the existing circumstances or events, caused by factors that are beyond the sphere of influence of the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan, the Institute shall reserve the right to make changes in the ongoing course structure (e.g. in terms of time, methodology or format). Should the circumstances not allow the above-mentioned changes, in that case the Goethe-Institut / Max Mueller Bhavan shall cancel the course without any alternative offer and financial compensation.
