Our summer course programme Welcome to our summer brochure of courses in the Derbyshire Dales area. Find out about our new summer programme of short workshops in Ashbourne and Matlock on pages 8 and 9. See the next page for details of the FREE taster workshops we are putting on to celebrate this year’s Festival of Learning. It isn’t too soon to start thinking about getting a new qualification. Most of our big qualification courses start in September, but we have information sessions this term where you can find out whether a course you are thinking of doing is suitable for you. Free Festival of Learning tasters The week of 24 June is when we are celebrating our ‘Festival of Learning’ and we are putting on FREE taster sessions around the county to encourage everyone to learn something new. This year’s theme is Be a Better You! Find out more about our qualification courses starting in September 2019 The Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers Develop your upholstery skills for your own interest, to lead to employment or, with additional practice, to starting your own small business. See page 13 for more details. Free information session: Ashbourne ACE Centre on Wednesday 24 July from 1pm to 2pm. British Sign Language Our suite of British Sign Language courses enable learners to converse in BSL and to gain crucial sign language skills for work or social purposes. We run courses from Entry Level (beginners) to Level 2 (intermediate) at Ashbourne ACE Centre, Matlock, The Ritz ACE Centre (and other centres around the county). Courses vary in length depending on the level you are studying. Contact your local ACE centre for more information. Counselling The Level 2 Certificate is for those who want to learn counselling skills to help and support others in a voluntary or employed capacity. This course can provide skills for a variety of roles. Free information sessions: Ashbourne ACE Centre on Wednesday 26 June from 5pm to 6pm. Floral Design During the Level 2 City & Guilds qualification you will develop the practical skills, knowledge and creativity needed to make floral arrangements to a saleable standard. Free information sessions: Ashbourne ACE Centre on Monday 01 July from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. Matlock, The Ritz ACE Centre on Friday 28 June from 4.30pm to 5.30pm. Interior Design This Level 3 Certificate is for those who want to learn interior design skills to progress into a new career, to support current employment/ self-employment or for personal interest. Advanced Learner Loans are available for this qualification. Free information sessions: Ashbourne ACE Centre on Thursday 27 June from 5pm to 6pm. Working with Young People (Childcare) Childcare qualifications have changed to reflect the government’s drive to improve the quality of childcare.
