During the second portion of the practice, you will find a comfortable savasana and be guided through different relaxation techniques. Stress hormone blockers are released to reduce pain, stress and anxiety. 20 minutes of deep relaxation (Yoga Nidra) is equivalent to 5 hours of restful sleep. All props will be provided. Participants need to bring their own mats to each class. Yoga Nidra (Holly Dalgleish) Yoga Nidra or "yogic sleep"/sleeping yoga is the deepest state of meditation where one is simply lying down and with guidance enters the state of a deep sleep with conscious awareness of that deep sleep. It is the state between being still awake but almost asleep. One can use it to access the subconscious mind and enact changes from within. Yoga Nidra improves heart rate, a measure of balance in the autonomic nervous system, reduces symptoms of high anxiety and stress. Studies show it is used to cope with PTSD. All you need is a mat, blanket and anything that makes you feel comfortable to lie down on the floor (bolsters, pillow, etc).
