We’ve lined up several back & of our regular teachers and have come up with some very cool classes for a wide range of ages. The classes will focus on process and technique so that you can work on your new skills during the week ready until your next class. 2
jan Virtual Beginner Drawing 4 Start Date: Tuesday, January 4th Length: 4 weeks Time: 6:30pm-8:00pm Ages: 13-Adult ARTFARMANNAPOLIS.COM Instructor: Anita Hagan Anyone can learn to draw! In this 4 week beginner drawing class, you will learn the basics - from materials you need to get started, to learning how to loosen up with simple shapes and gestures, and finally to completing your first finished drawing of still life. This class is designed to be relaxing, fun, and give you everything you need to get started on a lifetime of sketching. S I G N UP TO DAY 3
JAN 17 Figure Drawing Start Date: Monday, January 17th Length: 6 weeks Time: 6:30pm-8:30pm ARTFARMANNAPOLIS.COM Ages: 17 - Adult Instructor: Joanna Bigelow All levels are welcome! In this class, you will develop your figure drawing skills from a live nude model. Through lectures, demos, and practice we will explore proportion, gesture, value, and anatomy. Using charcoal, students will learn how to create realistic forms and values. S I G N UP TO DAY 4
jan 17 Kids Drawing Start Date: Monday, January 17th Length: 8 weeks Time: 4:30pm-6:00pm ARTFARMANNAPOLIS.COM Ages: 8-11 Instructor: Cat Dolch This class will mainly focus on drawing from life, exploring still life and even some portraiture. We will focus on proportion, shading, contouring, and composition so that students leave with a good foundation to drawing. S I G N UP TO DAY 5
Graphic Design JAN Start Date: January 18th Length: 8 weeks 18 Time: 6:00pm-7:30pm Ages: 12-17 Instructor: Dharma Pachner ARTFARMANNAPOLIS.COM We love Graphic Design! With Darin and Alison both having Graphic Design degrees, we decided it was time to offer a class that spoke to the importance of good design in the world. Students will learn all the fundamentals of design from color theory to font choices to branding. This 8-week course will be taught by local professional designer Dharma Pachner (Creative Director of Contrast & Co.). Each week they will work on a portion of a long term branding project as well as smaller weekly projects using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. S I G N UP TO DAY 6
3D Sculpture JAN Start Date: Wednesday, January 19th 19 Length: 8 weeks Time: 4:30pm-6:00pm Ages: 12-17 Instructor: Scott Newcomb ARTFARMANNAPOLIS.COM Sculpture lives in the world with us, sharing space in our 3D experience. In its very essence, sculpture provides a physical platform for the expression of our ideas and thoughts. It has marked our history, recording our evolving humanity with form, shape, and material. Student artists will be introduced to the principles of sculpture and techniques for construction as they study 4 different sculptural artists and create projects inspired by what they learn using a variety of materials from wood to metal to found objects. JAN Teen Beginner 20 Photography Start Date: Thursday, January 20th Length: 8 weeks ARTFARMANNAPOLIS.COM Time: 6-8pm Ages: 12-17 Instructor: Josh McKerrow This 8-week in person class will be led by Joshua McKerrow (Pulitzer Prize winning photojournalist). In the 8 weeks we will learn how to use our DSLR camera and learn the fundamentals of photography: aperture, shutter speed, composition, ISO, and have a ton of fun while doing it! S I G N UP TO DAY 8
JAN Beginner 22 Painting for Kids Start Date: Saturday, January 22nd Length: 6 weeks ARTFARMANNAPOLIS.COM Time: 10am-11:30pm Ages: 8-11 Instructor: Erin Schweers Painting is an exploration of the heart. Painting is meditative, adventurous and exploratory. In this six week course taught by Erin Schweers, we will learn about color theory, Abstract Expressionism, Impressionism and Conceptualism as we practice and find our own unique styles for each. Block Printing Workshop jan Date: Saturday, January 29th 29 Time: 1:00pm-4:00pm Ages: 17 - Adult Instructor: Anita Hagan ARTFARMANNAPOLIS.COM Learn how to carve your own block and block print onto beautiful paper Block printing artist extraordinaire, Anita Hagan will be here to teach you all you need to know! You’ll be able to take your block home to continue printing on whatever you like! As always, no experience needed, our goal is to support all skill levels to create and have fun! For this class we will be printing on shirts. You will be required to bring your own blank cotton t-shirt or tank to the class to print on. You will have the choice or white or black ink for printing, so dark or light colors are best. S I G N UP TO DAY 10
JAN Video Game Concept 22 Art Workshop Dates: February 5 & 6 Time: 4pm - 7pm ARTFARMANNAPOLIS.COM Ages: 13-18 Instructor: Marin Bagbey Learn what it takes to be a concept artist! Bring an iPad and learn how to create characters, environments, props, and scenes for your very own video game. We will go through how to build and visualize a video game narrative. No prior knowledge of iPad software or video game design needed. S I G N UP TO DAY 11
Virtual Botanical Drawing feb 22 Start Date: Tuesday, February 22nd Length: 4 weeks Time: 6:30pm-7:30pm Ages: 13-Adult ARTFARMANNAPOLIS.COM Instructor: Anita Hagan In this 4 week virtual course, students will learn the basics of Botanical Drawing and how to sketch flowers and plants using colored pencils and pen. No previous drawing or art experience necessary! Using a small sketchbook as a journal, participants will learn to identify and classify floral photos provided by the instructor, then practice how to create a botanical style drawing in four easy steps. Part art, part science – and all fun! S I G N UP TO DAY 12
MAR 6 Batik Workshop Start Date: Sunday, March 6th Length: 2 weeks ARTFARMANNAPOLIS.COM Time: 10:00am-12:00pm Ages: 17 - Adult Instructor: Mischelle Wilbricht An introduction into the art and tradition of Batik. You will be making your own fabric dyes, melting beeswax, and using traditional tools to create art with fabric! S I G N UP TO DAY 13
ArtFarm Student Union Open Studio Start Date: Thursday, January 20th Length: 8 weeks Time: 6:00pm-8:00pm Ages: 12-17 or 8th-12th grade ARTFARMANNAPOLIS.COM The ArtFarm Student Union with Open Studio hours was intentionally created for small groups of teens to use the ArtFarm Studios space to create their own work and socialize with other young artists. We invite young artists to join us in making decisions while creating and collaborating with each other. With the help of mentors in the arts, we will encourage them and include their young voices in the conversations of our city and county arts community. This program is inclusive to ALL. First Exposure Length: 4 weeks Time: 7:00pm-9:00pm Ages: Adult Instructor: Kaitlyn McQuaid ARTFARMANNAPOLIS.COM Have a digital camera you don’t know how to use? Want to brush up on your photography skills? Join ArtFarm for “First Exposure,” a 4-week digital photography workshop covering the foundations of photography. This workshop will run for 2 hours on Tuesday nights and each week we’ll cover one element of photography in-depth including Aperture, ISO, Shutter Speed, Lighting, and Composition. Adult Photo Meet-Ups Time: 9:30am-11:00am Ages: 17 - Adult Model/Instructor: Kaitlyn McQuaid ARTFARMANNAPOLIS.COM Meet-up with photographer Kaitlyn McQuaid on the last Saturday of each month to talk about all things photography! We’ll focus each month on a theme and use that as a starting point to practice the elements we cover in the First Exposure workshop. Sketch Night w/ Model Length: Monthly on the second Friday of the month Time: 6:30pm-8:30pm Ages: 17 - Adult Model: TBD ARTFARMANNAPOLIS.COM A monthly gathering for ANYONE wanting to let loose for an evening of sketching and artistic community. Each month we will have a different model- it could range from a burlesque dancer to a professional life drawing model in costume. THIS IS NOT A DRAWING CLASS. This is setup to be a time to work on skills and just have some fun! ***Artists should bring their own drawing or painting materials.
