Encouraging Great Behaviour
Saturday, March 2 • 10:00 am - 2:30 pm • 4 hours • Cost: $40.00 • Surrey
Behaviours are a great form of expression! Understanding the message behind this behaviour is the secret to
understanding how to manage them more easily and effectively. Good communication and quality connection are
two of the most essential parts to encouraging great behaviour! Discussing expectations with children by using the
key learning styles as well as playtime, are critical pieces in experiencing more good behaviour from children such
as smoother transitions, good listening and joyful motivation to do what is expected of them.
This workshop is designed for people who want to increase
children’s learning in emotional development throughout the
curriculum. It also serves to build skills for those who want to be
more effective, efficient and energetic when interacting with
children as well as a renewed sense of commitment and purpose.
This workshop will include a framework to discover the basic
fundamentals of encouraging positive behaviour, create a plan to
inject more emotional development skill-building throughout the
daily routines and reinforce the good behaviour that’s
demonstrated and correct any undesirable behaviour that takes
place.
This will be an interactive discussion that includes opportunities
for questions, situational examples, take home tools to use
towards a future action plan in your center as well as moments of
reflection to connect head and heart to the core of this matter.

Curriculum Design
Monday, March 4 • 6:30 - 8:30 pm • 2 hours • Cost: $30.00 • Surrey
What is curriculum and how do we, as educators, understand it and approach it in our daily practice?
The question of WHY in early childhood practice is prevalent and crucial, and the why of the curriculum, as an
integral part of that same practice, is a necessary one. Practice that is examined on an ongoing basis is the key to
the quality of not only education but living itself.
In this workshop, Ana will present both the principles and elements of curriculum design and what needs to be
considered when we think about it in the context of our practice.
Objectives:
 Understanding what curriculum is in early childhood education
 Characteristics of curriculum
 Elements and principles of curriculum
 Approach to curriculum implementation
 Critical reflection. What can be done differently and how?

Honouring the Authentic Needs of Children
Saturday, March 16 • 10:00 am - 2:30 pm • 4
hours • Cost: $40.00 • Surrey
Children are citizens of the world. They are
born competent and complete and it is our
duty to honour and respect their individual
needs. Children’s time today is more
structured than it has ever been at any point
in modern history. We need to ask: are we
honouring a child’s authentic needs or are we
honouring the needs of the society? There is
no cookie-cutter formula for honouring the
authentic needs of a child. It is an art that
requires selfless intention and incredible
heart.

Objectives:
 Discuss why we need to view the child as
   a citizen
 Discover ways to value a child’s intrinsic
truth, and nurture it to help them grow
 Recognize the need to observe children
and identify ways to facilitate meaningful,
   authentic, and engaging play
 Review how we listen, honour, and
   celebrate children
 Discuss how to be intentional with our
   planning and interactions
