INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY: In case of inclement weather, members are encouraged to call the Family Center at 973- 783-7640 for up-to-date information regarding program cancellations, delayed openings of the facility or closures. There will be a staff member or recorded message informing you of our status. PLEASE ASSUME WE ARE OPEN: We only send out an e mail notification if there is a closure. During the winter/spring seasons we will make every effort to remain open. However, we do want to make sure that all of our members and staff remain safe during any inclement weather event and we reserve the right to delay the opening or close the facility. Unfortunately, make ups are not available for classes cancelled due to inclement weather. 3 3
“GOOD TO KNOW” AT THE GEYER FAMILY BRANCH For the safety of your children, and for program quality purposes, Parent/Child classes are for one child and one adult. Siblings are not permitted in the program area unless noted by the class description. If you need child care during those times, please refer to our nursery schedule. Child only classes are for children only–parents are welcome to sit in the lobby areas. Most classes offer an observation day/recital at the end of the session. Due to the unique nature of each department, make-up classes are at the discretion of the director of each program area. Please refer to our refund policy regarding refund/credits. It is included in your membership agreement. Refunds/credits will not be issued after week 2 of the start of the session. For program planning and staffing purposes, class transfers/ changes can only be made during the first 2 weeks of the session if room allows. The Geyer Family Branch is a NUT AWARE facility. Please do not bring nut products into the building. TOT SPOT Nursery is available for parents/caregivers Babysitting is available during the tot spot who are in a class with one child and need operating hours. PRESCHOOL READINESS Our Preschool Readiness Program develops skills that promote success in school and in life! Many early childhood education experts believe that readiness programs are significant and valuable. They are extremely helpful in providing the child with opportunities to develop social skills, listening skills, and the concept that we all follow rules to function in a group or community. CREATIVE ARTS Our Creative Arts Department has a wide variety of both parent/child and child only classes. From woodworking to cooking and art to science there is something for everyone to explore their inner creativity. PARENT & CHILD: Wee Little Artists Around the World : Art & Cooking (18 months - 3 years) (Ages 3-4 years) A class with the perfect amount of structure and self driven open art This cooking and art class will explore many different cultures. Each creativity time! Each class will consist of two themed projects that week children will learn by making and tasting, a fun, hands-on class work on fine motor skills like cutting, glueing, and coloring that will for both caretaker and child! be yours to take home to display. Bring a special grown-up and discover the joys of making arts and crafts. In our bright art room, explore materials and Little Kids Kitchen enhance fine motor skills in a relaxed environment. Plan to get a little (Ages 3-5 years) messy and have a lot of fun! A different theme is explored each week. Cooking classes develop skills in many areas such as science, math and problem solving skills. This kind of learning is hands-on, fun and Brunch Bunch messy! A variety of foods from appetizers to desserts will be (Ages 3-4 years) prepared throughout the session. Our first cooking class that’s just for the morning! Each week, we will explore a different scientific theme and do a related project. GYM & SPORTS At the Geyer Family Branch we encourage our students to do a variety of physical activities daily to work on three of important elements: endurance, strength and flexibility. Endurance is developed when children regularly engage in aerobic activity. Strength is enhanced when children climb and swing a bat. Flexibility is increased through stretching exercises, performing cartwheels, or reaching for a ball with a racquet. We are focused on offering all of these important physical experiences for children.
