This year, 7-8 year-olds we are excited to go on Adventures in 11.30am - 1pm Storyland with two Singaporean writers! FAQs FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q. What if the programme cannot proceed due to COVID-19? Should we be unable to proceed with the programme as planned, participants will be offered a suitable alternative or a refund for the remaining sessions of the programme. Q. Are there any additional costs? Term Programmes: There will be a costume fee of up to $50. The exact amount will be communicated to parents/guardians later in the programme as they begin to rehearse for the showcase. Holiday Workshop: There will be no additional costs. Q. Who are the instructors? Our instructors are drama educators who are themselves actors, singers, dancers. They are pedagogically trained to bring out the best in every child. Q. Will my child be performing at the end of the programme? For our Term Programmes, while we plan for participants to have the experience of performing in front of a live audience, that may not be possible depending on the prevailing COVID-19 guidelines. In the event that a live audience is not possible, we will find alternative modes of presentation that will be shared digitally with parents/guardians at no additional cost. Q. Are there any exams or certificates awarded? No, there are no exams at the Wild Rice Academy. Instead, children will get the opportunity to share what they have learnt in a performance showcase. There will be a certificate awarded on completion of our Term Programmes with at least 80% attendance. No certificate will be presented for the Holiday Workshop. Q. My child has no experience in performing or theatre. Can they join the programme? Yes, they can join the programme. No prior experience is necessary. Q. My child has been taking classes prior to this. Can they be placed in a higher age group? We recommend for them to be in the same class as peers their age, as the programme has been tailored according to each age group. Q. If my child joins the Wild Rice Academy, will be perform in the pantomime? No. They will have to go through an audition for the First Stage! Programme to be a part of the pantomime, which is a separate programme from the Wild Rice Academy. Q. Will this clash with the First Stage! Programme? No. The Wild Rice Academy Term Programmes will not clash with the First Stage! Programme, so your child can be in both programmes! Q. Does joining the Wild Rice Academy give my child a better chance of getting into the First Stage! Programme? No. The First Stage! Programme is a separate programme in which we cast young actors to perform alongside professional actors in our annual pantomime. Any participant interested must for an audition. Many factors come into play in the casting decisions every year, such as age/ height requirements, number and type of roles available, and dates of rehearsals and performances.
COVID-19 ADVISORY COVID-19 HEALTH & SAFETY MEASURES In line with the efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19, all programmes conducted at the Wild Rice Academy will be carried out in accordance to the prevailing safety advisories and Safe Management Measures (SMMs) as advised by the relevant authorities. We seek your cooperation with the Health and Safety Measures listed below. All information is accurate at the time of publishing and will be updated should the prevailing guidelines change. Should we be unable to proceed with the programme as planned, participants will be offered a suitable alternative or a refund for the remaining sessions of the programme. COVID-19 Health & Safety Measures at the Wild Rice Academy: - Travel Declaration: All participants would be required to submit a travel declaration form on their travel history and travel plans prior to the commencement of the programme. - Contact Tracing: Any participants the venue will be required have the TraceTogether Token with them or the TraceTogether App enabled. - Temperature Taking: All staff and participants will be screened before the start of the lesson. Anyone with a temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius or above will be sent home. - Visible Symptoms of Illness: Any participant or staff exhibiting any symptoms of illness, will not be permitted to attend lessons. Please stay home to recuperate. - Face Masks: All parents/guardians, staff and participants will be required to wear a face mask while within the premises of Wild Rice. - Quarantine Order or Stay-Home Notice: Any staff or participants who live in the same household as someone on a Quarantine Order or Stay-Home Notice will not be permitted to participate. - Drop-off & Pick-up: No waiting is allowed on the premises. We seek your cooperation to drop-off and pick-up your child/ward on time. - Entry to Venue: Only required staff and participants will be allowed into the venue. Parents/ Guardians will not be allowed to enter. - Props: All props used will be cleaned and sanitised after use. Participants will be required to sanitise their hands before coming into contact with any props. - Break: There will be a 30-minute break in-between different groups of participants to prevent any cross-contact. - Safe Distancing: Participants will have to keep at least 1 metre between each other. Should the rehearsal or performance require interaction, they will be split into bubbles of no more than 5. Each group will be kept at least 2 metres apart. - Voice Training: There will be no voice projection training during this period. This information is accurate as of 3 November 2020.
