JUNE 2022 Where Knowledge Blossoms Dear Island Trees Community, We regretfully announce the passing of Debi Hinde Santiago, Senior Clerk and newsletter editor, on May 19, 2022. Debi had been at the library since 2002, and we will all miss her strength, honesty and great sense of humor. We send our thoughts and prayers to her family. Debi always enjoyed communicating our news to you with her Editor's Notes,
and to continue her legacy I'll also do the same as the new editor. I look forward to sharing our library's news and events with you, and would like to dedicate this special issue in memory of a great colleague and friend. May she rest in peace. - Cindy Simeti, Newsletter Editor We finally resumed mailing our quarterly print newsletter! It'll be arriving very soon in your mailbox so keep an eye out for it. We'll still continue to send you these monthly e- mail bulletins too. Starting on Wednesday, June 1, for a limited time only, we will be selling discounted general admission tickets to the Long Island Aquarium. Tickets are $23 each, limited to six per family, first-come, first-served. Cash or money order accepted; we will not accept personal checks. And most importantly, we wish you a Happy Father's Day and a Happy Juneteenth! We were honored to have hosted our very first AAPI celebration!
