Digital classes Protect yourself against scams with BeConnected (Guided webinar) Tuesday 20 June 10:00am - 11:00am The amazing team at Be Connected and the Office of the eSafety Commissioner, are offering this free online lesson or webinar, all about online scams and how to keep yourself protected. This guided session will give you the opportunity to ask questions of an expert in the field. Designing with Canva - making short videos from your images Thursday 22 June 10:00am - 11:30am This is the third in a series of Canva Basics sessions. This month you'll amaze your friends, family and colleagues with a fun video or "reel" made from photos and the special movie effects built into Canva. Your video would be great for social media, attached to an email as a fun, animated newsletter, or a special electronic greeting card. Introduction to MyGov Monday 26 June 10:00am - 11:30am Want help to access MyGov for tax help, Medicare or My Health Record? We can help you set up an account and link the services you need. Winter Film Fest We will be hosting our annual Winter Film Fest in partnership with Beamafilm on Thursdays during June, July and August. Titles include Suffragette, Baxter and Me, Road to Bali and many more. Discover a new film or revisit an old favourite as you enjoy our large HD TV and cosy space. Community Connections Family History - Writing Family Stories Friday 2 June 11:00am - 12:30pm 1:30pm - 3:00pm (repeat of 11:00am Session) You have researched using information from home, online records and newspapers. What will you do with this information and how will you share it with your family? There will be lots of ideas presented, followed by Q&A and practical activities. If you’re interested in blogging your stories, the July session will be a full day continuation on how to get started on blogging. Join Sue for this session looking at online newspaper resources to find the stories behind the events. Bookings essential. Book Chatters Tuesday 13 June 10:30am - 12:00pm Held on the 2nd Tuesday each month, Book Chatters is our book group with a difference. Each month features a new theme with no set book to read. We'll choose a range of books on the theme for you to borrow on the day. Community Connections Chronicles of Yarnia Saturday 17 June 10:00am - 12:00pm Bring your latest project to our monthly craft group, held on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Relax in the library and be inspired by other yarnies. Grab a cuppa from our coffee station. Knitting and crochet for beginners (parent / carer / child) Thursday 20 and 27 June 3:15pm - 4:15pm (after school activity) Join us on for a fun session learning the basic stitches and how to get started. This is a parent/carer/child activity, but anyone who wants to learn is welcome. We will supply a cuppa, and any equipment you need. We have yarn, needles, and hooks ready to go, but feel free to bring your own as well if you'd like to work on your project at home afterwards. Please book for everyone who is coming. Children's Programs Storytime Tuesdays 11:00am - 11:30am Our free 30 minute session includes stories, rhymes, and lots of fun. Storytime is suitable for pre-schoolers aged 3-5 years with their parents/carers. Song of the month: Round and Round the Mulberry Bush Rock & Rhyme Wednesdays and Thursdays 10:30am - 11:00am A 30 minute lap-sit program for babies and toddlers aged birth to 2 and their parents/carers. Learn songs and action rhymes together, meet other parents and children, and have fun. Song of the month: Round and Round the Mulberry Bush LEGO® Club Wednesdays 3:15pm - 4:15pm Join in our LEGO® challenges, build some amazing projects, have fun, and make new friends! Open to all ages. Dark MOFO - Stories After Dark Stories After Dark Saturday 17 June 5:00pm - 10:00pm Libraries Tasmania will again be hosting our DarkMOFO event Stories After Dark. Explore all public spaces at 91 Murray Street - including the carpark, Foyer, Allport Museum of Fine Arts, the Hobart Library and State Library and Archives. This year's event includes performances, art installations, exhibitions, music, sound, lights and storytelling. We hope to see you there! What's On | June 2023 09
