46th South Avenue Opening
As the Central 70 Project is progressing,
keep an eye out for the newly open
roads! 46th South Avenue between
Josephine and Clayton streets will open
in April. The crews were able to tie in
curb, gutter, install new sidewalks and
give businesses new driveways. When
this segment of 46th South Avenue opens
it will be in its permanent alignment.
This milestone puts the Project one step
closer to connecting the Elyria-Swansea
neighborhoods. Remember to visit the
local businesses along 46th South
Avenue!
Cover Park Construction Begins
Drum roll, please! The long-
awaited cover park will begin
construction this month! Crews will begin
installing different park elements,
including the new playground as soon as
April 1. A permanent closure of 46th
North Avenue between Columbine and
Clayton streets is needed in order to
begin construction. This cover park will
include an amphitheater, two soccer
fields, a splash pad and a tot lot with
additional playground areas. For more

Meet team member Alex Milyard, a cover park engineer that started with Kiewit almost

two years ago. Alex enjoys working on
the park that spans over the new
highway. He likes partnering with other
crew members to overcome challenges
and build work safely and to the highest
quality. When not working on the park,
Alex likes to golf, fish and hunt. During
lunch breaks, you can find him at local
restaurants expanding his palate with
different types of tacos. His dream
vacation would be escaping the cold
climate for some rest and relaxation in
the Maldives.
Job and Training Opportunities
Closure of eastbound I-70 off-ramp to Steele
Street
Starting as soon as Friday, April 15 and continuing through mid-summer, the eastbound I-
70 off-ramp to Steele Street will close in order for the crews to build the new,
permanent ramp. Please use Colorado Boulevard as an alternate route. Once this ramp
opens, eastbound I-70 traffic will be in final configuration, which is scheduled to be
complete in summer 2022. Thank you for your patience while the team continues to
complete critical work throughout the Project corridor.

National Work Zone Awareness Week
The week of April 11 is Work Zone Awareness Week! This week (and every week) be sure
to slow down in work zones to keep yourself, other motorists and crews safe.
Construction crews are still working throughout the corridor and speeding and distracted
drivers are the biggest risks to their safety. Be sure to follow the Project on Facebook
@Central70Project to see how we are promoting awareness!
Project Overview
The Central 70 Project will reconstruct a 10-mile stretch of I-70 between Brighton
Boulevard and Chambers Road, add one new Express Lane in each direction, remove the
aging, 57-year-old viaduct, lower the interstate between Brighton and Colorado
boulevards and place a 4-acre park over a portion of the lowered interstate.

abiertas! La avenida 46 sur entre las

Conozca al Equipo: Alex Milyard
Conozca al miembro del equipo Alex
Milyard, un ingeniero de parques de
cobertura que comenzó con Kiewit hace
casi dos años. Alex disfruta trabajar en
el parque que se extiende sobre la nueva
carretera. Le gusta asociarse con otros
miembros de la cuadrilla para superar
los desafíos y construir el trabajo de
manera segura y con la más alta calidad.
Cuando no está trabajando en el parque,
a Alex le gusta jugar al golf, pescar y

Semana Nacional de Concientización sobre Zonas
de Trabajo
¡La semana del 11 de abril es la semana de concientización sobre la zona de trabajo!

trabajo para mantenerse seguro, a otros automovilistas y a las cuadrillas. Los equipos de
construcción todavía están trabajando en todo el corredor vial y los conductores
distraídos y con exceso de velocidad son los mayores riesgos para su seguridad.

Cronograma del Proyecto
El Proyecto Central 70 reconstruirá un tramo de 10 millas de la I-70 entre el Bulevar
Brighton y la Calle Chambers, agregará un nuevo Carril Exprés en cada dirección,
eliminará el antiguo viaducto de 57 años, bajará la autopista interestatal entre los
bulevares Brighton y Colorado y colocará un parque de 4 acres sobre parte de la
interestatal baja.
