Welcome Featured Services Rose Savage Chair, Vaughan Public Library Board Welcome to the June issue of What’s On and the start of an exciting Summer season at Vaughan Public Libraries! We have programming for all age groups, and as the school vacations approach, many parents may be looking for activities to help their children engage in learning and creativity. Take a Hike This year we will be offering virtual editions of …or more accurately a StoryWalk®! VPL has partnered with our Teen Summer Challenge, TD Summer Reading Public Works to install StoryWalk® at five parks across the Club and VPL Science Fair. The Science Fair will be City. Get outside and walk the trail to discover delightful live at the start of the month. Our Summer-long children’s books page by page. Visit the link below for programs will launch in mid-June and I encourage locations and info on the featured stories: you to visit our website for more details. www.vaughanpl.info/blog/storywalks-city-vaughan-trails/ We now deliver so many programs online in order to adapt to the changing needs of our community! The key driver since Spring 2020 has been the pandemic; but elsewhere our services continue to change as Vaughan grows. Our work on new libraries at VMC and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital continues and we remain on schedule to open later this year. We’ve held public information sessions on the new library at Carville Community Centre, as well as potential expansion in West Woodbridge. Finally, renovations on Maple Library are set to begin, and we will deliver a bright modern space for our customers. You can find out more about these projects on our building blog. We are very excited about our library system and sharing better times with you in the TD Grade One Book Giveaway future. If you have a child in grade one they are eligible to receive a free book courtesy of TD! Just visit one of our Resource Best regards, Library curbside locations and ask for your copy. Books are Rose available in English or French, but supplies are limited, so get yours today! www.vaughanpl.info WHAT’S ON JUNE 2021 | 2
