Cian has always had an interest in playing the accordion since seeing live musicians playing at Irish dancing competitions. After receiving his accordion for his 11th birthday this past year, he started taking virtu- al lessons from a musician originally from Ireland, who currently lives in New York. Just last month, Cian competed in the Under 12 Music Category at a competition in New Jersey and won first place! Throughout Covid, Cian has spent countless hours learning, practic- ing, and perfecting his skills on the accordion. And most important- ly, Cian loves to share his love of Irish music with people and make them happy. Throughout this time of Covid, he has spent lots of time outside on his porch where neighbors and passers-by stop and listen to him play. This has been a great way to keep his neighbors “engaged” but safe. Learning the accordion has not only brought Cian great joy but also the many residents who are able to enjoy his music. Their smiles say it all! Cian hopes one day to be a musician at Irish dancing competitions after retiring in Irish dance competitions. -Karen Cocita, Principal St. Mark School Lily 11th Grade Saint Joseph Academy Lily Hynes is one of our strongest junior Jaguars!
