One of America’s leading trainers based upon win percentage, Justin Evans won 37 times last season, hitting with a remarkable 27 percent of his starters and earning nearly $600,000 in purse money. Evans streak of six straight trainer titles was snapped in 2018 when he finished second behind the late Henry Dominguez. In recent years, Evans has trained stars at Sunland Park like Bill and Sue Tomasic’s multiple stakes winner Mt Veeder, as well as Concord Fast for Teed Off Stables LLC, and Citizen Geller for UKUSA stables. Evans once again took top honors in the 2019 trainer standings at both the Downs at Albuquerque and SunRay Park and Casino meetings. He scored with 38 percent of his starters at the Downs at Albuquerque, including stakes winner Gunners One for owner Tommy Gunstream as well as Bokeelia Island, co-owned by Cindy Evans Perez and Justin’s wife Vanessa.
