Superstar Cricket Academy http://nzc.nz/community/nzc-programmes/superstar-cricket-academy The Superstar Cricket Academy is a junior development programme that teaches the fundamentals of batting, bowling and fielding within an exciting and competitive environment. Designed for children aged 5-10 years (boys and girls), it is the first step on a pathway that can lead to a lifelong involvement in cricket The programme focuses on teaching children the essential skills of the game through a series of activities, drills and modified games in preparation for their successful introduction to Superstar Cricket, a modified format of the game. The aim of the Superstar Cricket Academy is to get children and parents involved in our sport and to build a new generation of cricketers by helping children discover, explore, and learn to love the game. Cricket is one of New Zealand’s most popular summer sports and by taking part in the Superstar Cricket Academy helps our youngest participants join in on the fun of cricket. Each child who participates in the paid programme will receive a Superstar Cricket Academy pack containing a bat, ball, cap, backpack and a drink bottle. Superstar Cricket http://nzc.nz/community/nzc-programmes/superstar-cricket Superstar Cricket is an entry level game, best suited to boys and girls from 5-12 years old, and designed to help participants learn the basics of cricket in an enjoyable and exciting environment. It’s an inclusive, made-for-age game and its benefits extend far beyond the game of cricket. At its core, Superstar Cricket provides children with opportunities to experience the value of team-work and active cooperation in a supportive and non-competitive framework. It creates an action- packed, fun atmosphere in which each participant feels fully involved. Schools Development work is carried out in primary schools with programme delivery by a development officer: Taster Sessions: 30 min in class session delivery to introduce kids and teachers to cricket. Superstarter Skills Is an inclusive programme of skills-based fun for children of all abilities, across all primary school levels (Years 1 – 8). It’s an easy-to-understand set-up-and-play method for involving children in a range of fundamental development skills – such as throwing, catching and striking a ball. The Superstarter Skills programme can be used to support Cricket Smart, a set of teaching and learning resources aligned to the New Zealand Curriculum and includes key achievement objectives, values and key understandings. Teachers don’t need to be cricket experts - little knowledge of the game is required to organise and run the programme. Cricket Smart Cricket Smart is an educational programme for primary and intermediate schools. Register your school with the Cricket Smart education programme and you’ll receive exclusive access to the lesson plans, which are aligned with the New Zealand Curriculum. The resource is designed to support teachers to raise awareness of the sport, using practical and engaging learning opportunities

A development coach can only do so much with large numbers of kids in a short period of time they have them. Step up, help out and feel the thrill of making a difference.
