What is Roundtable? • Open forum for scouters to exchange ideas. • Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturing and Varsity Leaders meet together as groups to discuss relevant issues in their packs, troops, crews and teams. • Open exchange of ideas with an experienced scouter facilitating for each group to review information and share their ideas. • Handouts are available at roundtable on a wide range of program ideas and upcoming activities and events in the district and council. • The Cub Scout session: A variety of craft ideas that are inexpensive and entertaining for the Cub Scouts. • Opportunity to get different ideas and feedback to take back and apply to your units to improve unit or solve problems. • District: Council: At Roundtable there is an opportunity to have access to council information and assistance. Also this is the perfect opportunity for units to have input on district and council events.
There’s an updated Annual Health and
Medical Record to use for 2020
• Part A is an informed consent, release agreement and authorization that needs
to be signed by every participant (or a parent and/or legal guardian for all
youth under 18).
• Part B is general information and a health history.
• Part C is your pre-participation physical exam completed by a certified and
licensed health care provider.
• For all Scouting events: Part A and B. Give the completed forms to your unit leader. This applies to all participants
for all activities, day camps, local tours and weekend camping trips less than 72 hours.
• For events or camps: Part A, B and C. A pre-participation physical is needed for resident, tour, or trek camps or for a
Scouting event of more than 72 hours, such as Wood Badge and NYLT. The exam needs to be completed by a
certified and licensed physician (M.D. or D.O.), nurse practitioner or physician assistant. If your camp has provided
you with any supplemental risk information, or if your plans include attending one of the four national high-
adventure bases, share the venue’s risk advisory with your medical provider when you are having your physical
exam.
• For high-adventure trips: Part A, B and C. Plus, each of the four national high-adventure bases (Florida Sea Base,
Northern Tier, Philmont and the Summit Bechtel Reserve) has provided a supplemental risk advisory that explains in
greater detail some of the risks inherent in that program. Please review these as some Scouts or leaders may not be
physically or mentally able to handle the trek. Others arrive at a high-adventure base without discussing that base’s
risk factors with their health care provider, meaning they have missing info at check-in that can slow down the
process.

Twenty-two Boy Scouts from the Columbia River District successfully passed their Eagle Scout Board of Review during the month of
January 2020 and have been advanced to the rank of Eagle Scout. Collectively, these Boy Scouts planned and lead a total of 2188 hours

Eligibility - Hours are measured over a 12-month period and awards
are designated based on cumulative hours.
The awards are offered in multiple levels and are designed to recognize each milestone of your service
achievement. Levels include bronze, silver, gold and the highest honor, the President’s Lifetime
Achievement Award for those who contribute more than 4,000 hours of service in their lifetime.

NOAC is a week-long event for Order of the Arrow members from across the country. Jeff Kenyon and the
youth leadership are planning our travel to Michigan State University, August 1st – 8th. We still have spots for
Youth and Adult Arrowmen to attend. Part of the trip will be a full day at CedarPoint Park where you can ride
some of the largest roller coasters in the world, check it out at https://www.cedarpoint.com/play/rides.

monthsCPC Summer Camp 2020 Billing Changes • Effective March 1, the amount due will increase to a total of $100/Scout due for camp (Previously $75). Most importantly, this amount will be non- refundable. (Adult fees are always refundable). What to do: It is in your best interest to adjust your camp reservation between now and March 1 to the most accurate number possible to hold needed space and avoid lost fees.

New Training Requirements
• New 2019 YPT
On March 1, 2019, the online YP Course will be
replaced with an updated version.
If you have started—but not completed—the current Y01 Youth Protection Training:
– You must complete the training by February 28th,
– or any progress you have made will not transfer, due to the new learning plan.
– Otherwise, you may simply start over with the new training plan on March 1,
2019.
If you HAVE already completed the current Y01 Youth Protection Training: You WILL
NOT be affected. You DO NOT have to retake the training when the March 1, 2019
course is released.
Completions will not be recorded on my.scouting.org until you have completed all 3
modules and the certification test.
• Hazardous Weather Training a MUST for all
Direct Contact LeadersDen Chief Training Boy Scouts wishing to become den chiefs will take this online course as part of their training to become a den chief. The module identifies den chief responsibilities and tasks, and describes the den chief's relationship to the adult den leaders and how that relates to the den chief's activities with the den. After finishing the online training, den chief candidates print their certificate of completion and undergo further training with their adult den leaders. Estimated time to complete: 45 minutes.

volunteer to help out.
The District Committee and the District Commissioner
Staff are looking for that person that can make a
difference in supporting the District.

interest or you have someone to recommend.Tree Recycling Coordinator Needed!
Please consider volunteering to be our next coordinator. We promise
that it's less effort than being the coordinator for your unit.
What does it entail?
• working with the units to make sure all areas are served and provide updates
• working with our community supporters to arrange continued support
fielding calls from the public with questions about tree recycling (about 30 calls per
season)
• working with media to cover the event (usually involves a press release)
• taking donated winter coats to Friends of the Carpenter*
• provide lunch for the crew at the chipping site*
*This can be done by people other than the coordinator, just need to be able to delegate it.
We want to thank Cathy Sbur for her many years of dedication to
this very visible and important event in our District. As with most
or all positions within scouting, our scouters move on to other
things and we will miss Cathy.You are a Winner
