Dear Friend,

Welcome! We are so delighted by your interest in becoming a volunteer with Habitat
for Humanity Central Arizona. Throughout the pages ahead, you will discover the
variety of volunteer opportunities we have to offer. First, let me briefly share what
Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona is all about.

The founder of Habitat for Humanity, Millard Fuller, once wrote “A house is to a
family what soil is to a plant. A plant needs to be rooted. A family is like that. If a
family is not rooted, it will not flourish. But once a family is well-rooted, all kinds of
wonderful things will begin to happen”. Decent, affordable housing is something we
all need to thrive, and the years have shown us again and again what a strong
foundation a Habitat house can be for an Arizona family.

Our mission is to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope. With
your help, we can continue our programs of building affordable homes and providing
affordable home repairs to people who really need them.

You can support our mission even without a hammer. Whether you are interested to
volunteer in home construction, home repair, helping at the Habitat ReStores, or office,
we have a place for you. Every helping hand makes a difference.

With the hearts and minds of our incredible volunteers and the on-going support from
our wonderful partners, we have been privileged to build strength, stability, and self-
reliance into Central Arizona communities for more than 35 years. We plan to continue
building until everyone has a decent place to live.

We hope you can join us in creating safe and secure places for families to grow, be
healthy and thrive.

Gratefully,

Jason Barlow
President/CEO Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona

Deconstruct

                              Planning on remodeling?

Let us help! We offer free deconstruction with the donation of your old items! The
Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona Deconstruction Department has been in
operation for over 10 years. The Deconstruction family offers a friendly, teamwork
environment that traditionally works out of customer’s homes Monday through
Friday. We start at 8:00 am and are normally done within a few hours, which will
include donuts and fellowship time. We are looking for volunteers that are willing to
listen and learn about the techniques used in order to salvage resalable product from
customer’s homes. Our veteran volunteers offer fantastic training to new volunteers
that have signed-up just to learn about certain contractor trades, such as electrical,
plumbing, cabinetry, or general tool knowledge.

There are no costs to remove kitchen cabinets, appliances, bathroom fixtures and doors
from a space before a remodel or renovation. We are always in need of weekday
volunteers for our Deconstruction Crew.

safety at all times. You are responsible for your own safety as well as the safety of
others. Dress with safety in mind. If you see something unsafe, please mitigate the
problem or notify a volunteer leader. No one under 16 is permitted on or around the
jobsite.

that they do not fall off and injure others. Falling objects are a major cause of
     injury on the work site.
   • Be aware of people working above and below you

General:
  • Maintain good housekeeping - a clean worksite is essential to your safety! All
jobsites need to be left clean at the end of the day.
  • You are responsible for disposal of personal refuse, including water bottles,
    lunch remains, etc.
  • Remove nails from scrap lumber

Arizona Charitable Tax Credit
Did you know when you give to Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona you get
dollar for dollar back through the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit?

You can provide houses for those in need at NO COST to you! Through the Arizona
Charitable Tax Credit, you can receive a credit on your Arizona tax liability up to $400
individually or $800 for couples filing jointly!

What if I already give to the School Credit, can I still give to Charitable Tax Credit?
Yes, you can! You will receive each credit you give to.

Yes, a charitable tax credit reduces your Arizona tax liability. By making a gift to
Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona you can help a future Habitat homeowner
realize the dream of homeownership and receive credit for what you would otherwise
give to the state.

That’s right! Arizona tax law stipulates taxpayers can get a dollar for dollar tax credit
of up to $800 on a joint return and $400 on a single return for charitable contributions
made to qualifying charitable organizations. Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona
qualifies for a tax credit when you make a gift to the Charitable Tax Credit
