About the Health Savings Account (HSA)
This unique savings account comes with the Health Savings Plan. It’s earmarked for healthcare
expenses, and you and Sandia contribute to it with pretax* dollars.

You can use the money in your HSA — including Sandia’s contributions — to cover current eligible healthcare
expenses, like your annual deductible, copays, coinsurance, dental and vision care expenses, many over-the-counter
drugs, and healthcare supplies. Or you can let the balance grow.

The money will be there for you to use next year, in three years, and decades from now. That’s because the HSA is
yours forever, even if you change plans, change jobs, leave Sandia, or retire. Your entire unused balance rolls over
from year to year, earning interest along the way. And for even greater growth potential, you can invest part of the
    balance once it reaches $1,100.

         Funding Your HSA
Contributing to your HSA works to your advantage, because the more you contribute, the more Sandia
         does too.

But annual limits, set by the IRS, apply. In 2023, your contributions—combined with Sandia’s—can’t exceed
$3,850 if you cover yourself only, or $7,750 if you cover yourself and family members. You can add an
additional $1,000 if you’re age 55 or older.

As you decide how much to contribute, make sure your contributions, plus Sandia’s, do not exceed the
maximum allowed by the IRS. Optum Bank’s Health Savings Account Calculators can help you with the math!

Tip: Since you’re paying lower monthly premiums for the Health Savings Plan, start with that
difference, and then add even more pretax* dollars directly from your paycheck.

In return, here’s what you’ll get from Sandia:

Sandia HSA Sandia matches your contributions at 66 %, which means that when you
matching contribute $100, your contribution earns you $66.67 from Sandia.
contribution When you contribute more, you get more from Sandia, up to these annual maximums:

About the Health Reimbursement Account (HRA)
The Total Health PPO Plan is paired with a health reimbursement account (HRA) to help you pay
for eligible medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision expenses—including your deductible
    and your share of coinsurance.

be available for you to use until the end of January. Learn more about the HRA at hr.sandia.gov.

A maximum allowed balance applies with the HRA.
It’s based on your plan coverage level (employee
only, employee + spouse, employee + child(ren), or
employee + spouse and child(ren)). Once you reach this
maximum, you need to use some of your HRA funds
before you can earn more. If a balance remains at year-
end, your funds carry over for use in the next year (up
    to the maximum amounts).

Healthcare Flexible Spending Account
If you choose the Total Health PPO Plan or you waive Sandia medical coverage, you have
one more way to set aside money for your healthcare expenses: Sandia’s healthcare flexible
spending account (HCFSA). You make this election during Open Enrollment each year.

Sandia deducts your contributions from your paycheck before taxes are withheld, which reduces your taxable
income. You can use your HCFSA to pay for eligible healthcare expenses.

The IRS limits how much you can contribute annually to your HCFSA. The IRS contribution limit for 2022 is $2,850. If
you set your contributions at the 2022 maximum deferral for 2023, Sandia will offer you the opportunity to increase
your contribution once the 2023 limits are announced. Remember, you need to use your HCFSA funds during the
year. So plan carefully because you’ll forfeit any unused balance over $570 on January 1.

Your HCFSA is not portable; if you leave Sandia or retire, you’ll lose the funds in your account, unless you decide to
    continue medical coverage through COBRA.

Learn more about the HCFSA at hr.sandia.gov.

Your Dental Plan Options
New for 2023, you have three dental plans to choose from:
      • The Value Plan—offers lowest maximum benefit, with 70% coverage at the highest level.
      • The Standard Plan—most closely resembles the current dental plan, with a maximum
benefit that’s higher than the Value Plan and 80% coverage at the highest level.
      • The Plus Plan—offers the highest maximum benefit, with 90% coverage at the highest
level. You must remain in this plan for at least two consecutive years.

And as with our medical and vision plans, your dental premiums will be based on the dependents you cover. To see
what you’ll pay for coverage, review the Monthly Premiums for 2023 (pdf).

You do not have to enroll in medical coverage to elect dental coverage.

        • Diagnostic and preventive care (such as routine cleanings and exams)
        • Basic and restorative services (such as filings, root canals, and extractions)

All plans cover diagnostic and preventive care at no cost to you when you use Preferred or Premier providers. For
basic and major services, you’ll pay a deductible before the plan begins to share costs.

Only the Standard and Plus plans cover orthodontia; the deductible does not apply to orthodontics.

Your Vision Plan Options
New for 2023, you have three vision plans to choose from, all administered by Davis Vision:
      • The Value Plan—offers higher copays and lower allowances for services and materials
      • The Standard Plan—most closely resembles the current vision plan, enhanced with a laser
            surgery allowance
      • The Plus Plan—offers the lowest copays and higher allowances for services and materials

And as with our medical and dental plans, your vision premiums will be based on the dependents you cover. To see
what you’ll pay for coverage, review the Monthly Premiums for 2023 (pdf).

You do not have to enroll in medical coverage to elect vision coverage.

Your vision benefits go further when you use in-network providers
No matter which vision plan you select, your benefits will go further, and you will pay
less, when you use a Davis in-network provider.

All three plans offer the same out-of-network benefits coverage.
