Smiley Public Library This small library in the city of Redlands, California, was built in 1898 and is designed in the Moorish style. In this 360-degree tour, you can wander through the historic building and explore its vaulted ceilings, reading nooks, and beautiful stained glass windows, which depict symbols associated with libraries and learning. The Ickabog JK Rowling has a brand new children's book, which is being publishing in daily instalments on her website for free. The Ickabog is her first children's story without any links to Harry Potter. She wrote it over 10 years ago for her own children and has now brought the box down from the attic and dusted it off. She says that is for "children on lockdown, or even those back at school during these strange, unsettling times". Chapters are being published daily until 10 July. https://theickabog.com/ There is also a competition to provide illustrations for the book. https://www.jkrowling.com/j-k-rowling-introduces-the-ickabog/ The Children’s Bookshow: letters from lockdown Illustrated handwritten letters from children’s authors and illustrators writing about lockdown and encouraging children to write their own lockdown letters to either post or hand deliver to those close to them. http://thechildrensbookshow.com/news/letters-from-lockdown National Reading Group Day Saturday 20 June is National Reading Group Day and The Reading Agency wants everyone to get involved in celebrating all the brilliant things about being part of a reading group.
