Welcome to the 2014/15 Essendon Cricket Club Presentation & Awards Night Featuring: The Mick Mitchell Award
What a Season… Another positive year for the club, 2014/2015 saw the 1st, 3rd & 4th XIs all compete in the finals series. This is the first time 3 Essendon teams have made the finals in decades. Tonight is an opportunity to reflect on the year and celebrate the club’s and individual achievements.
Making Big Runs… (Centuries Award) Eight players made nine centuries for the Essendon CC during the season: 209 - Aiden Blizzard Vs Camberwell Magpies (1st XI). 131 - Robert Batch Vs Geelong (4th XI). 122 - Brent McMinn Vs Fitzroy Doncaster (2nd XI). 119 - Shane McNamara Vs Greenvale Kangaroos. (2nd XI). 110* - Jack Rhodes Vs Greenvale Kangaroos (2nd XI) 107 - Beau Valka Vs St Kilda (4th XI). 106* - Shane McNamara Vs Dandenong (2nd XI). 105 - Justin Galeotti Vs Carlton (2nd XI). 100* - Jack Tate Vs Greenvale Kangaroos (3rd XI).

Mick Mitchell Award The Most Important Club Award dedicated to Mick Mitchell, a 1st XI Premiership player. The award was instituted by his club mates after his untimely death and was first awarded in 1977/78. Each round all players vote 2 (best) and 1 (2nd best) Captains also have a 5 vote. Which can be given to one player or broken up into smaller votes. i.e.. 3-1-1 or 3-2 etc.
Fred Morley Award (Most Mick Mitchell Votes by a 3rd and 4th XI player) The award was instituted to celebrate the wonderful contribution of Fred Morley. Fred was a parent (Son - Peter Morley) who became a much loved team manager for the lower XIs for many years.
