Dear Future BBYO Lonestar Region Family, On behalf of the over 980 members in Lonestar Region, we’d like to officially welcome you to BBYO! As a BBYO member, you will join thousands of Jewish teens from across the globe as part of the world’s largest, pluralistic Jewish youth movement. The B’nai B’rith Girls (BBG, Girl’s program) is in the midst of celebrating its 75th anniversary and the Aleph Zadik Aleph (AZA, Boy’s program) its 95th. BBYO has been impacting the lives of Jewish young people for nearly a century, and there is no better time to get involved than right now. BBYO Lonestar Region strives to provide its teens with a diverse and dynamic menu of programming. Our AZA (Boys) and 2 BBG (Girls) chapters in Austin program regularly, offering members an inclusive, safe and active social experience throughout their high school career. And what makes BBYO even better is that it is planned by teens for the teens, providing real life leadership experiences under the supportive guidance of our adult advisors. In the past year, our chapters have clocked hundreds of volunteer hours and raised thousands of dollars for local charities through BBYO’s “Stand Up” Social Action Campaigns. We have supported Israel through unique and innovative programming under the organization “Speak Up for Israel” Initiative. Over 100 boys participate each week in our AZA Athletics Flag Football and Basketball Leagues. Our Regional Conventions have featured high profile speakers and programs like the Bullycide Project, Jeff Yaldin, baseball player Adam Greenberg, DoSomething.org CEO and Dress for Success founder Nancy Lublin, Millenium Campus Network Founder and CEO Sam Vaghar, NAACP teens, writer and Tablet Magazine columnist Rachel Shukert, and The Global Good Fund’s Carrie Rich as well as live performances from music acts OCD: Moosh & Twist, The White Panda, Jake Miller, The Hood Internet, and Bryce Vine. And, of course, we have fun! A plethora of social events offered throughout the year on the chapter, city, and Regional level give teens the opportunity to connect with Jewish peers from across southeast Texas and build friendships and sense of Jewish pride that is totally unique to the BBYO experience. Chapter Placement Request Form Continued As a paid member of BBYO, you will be placed into a specific chapter that will serve as the core of your AZA or BBG experience. There are currently 3 active chapters in Austin, 2 of which are girls’ chapters (Litzor BBG and Ra’naan BBG) and one boys’ chapter (Capital AZA). New members are placed in chapters by the Regional Office based on the completion of the information below. Step One: Determine what category you fall into (you may choose only one category). Category 1: You are a legacy to a specific chapter. A legacy means that you currently have a sibling in a specific chapter, or your sibling just graduated from high school and BBYO in May of 2017. If indicating legacy, you will automatically be placed in your sibling’s chapter.
