CIT Bachelor of Science Program B.S. in Computer and Information Technology (120 credits) The first year is similar for ALL four CIT major options. If you are debating between majors, it is strongly advised you make your decision in the second semester of your freshman year to stay on track. Faculty are available to help you with your decisions. Students will also complete a Co-Curricular Requirement of Information Technology Professional Experience. Majors: Computer and Information Technology (CNIT) Cybersecurity (CSEC) Network Engineering Technology (NENT) Systems Analysis and Design (SAAD) Changing Majors within CIT: Students may change majors within the BS in CIT and discuss options with your Academic Advisor. Changes should be discussed sooner than later so you are aware of any impacts this may have on timeline to graduation.

Advanced placement, International Baccalaureate, A Level and Dual Credit AP Credit • The College Board Advanced Placement (AP) Program scores must appear on your Purdue Record • Scores must be submitted by the College Board directly to Purdue University • Purdue CODE: 1631 • College Board Website: https://www.collegeboard.org/ • CIT accepts credits with score of 4 or 5 • See Handout to map AP Credits to CIT degree requirements International Baccalaureate Credit • Exams can be taken at either the Subsidiary Level (SL) or at the Higher Level (HL). • Credit normally will be awarded for HL subjects only, but there are a few exceptions. Degree Planning Resources myPurdue Plan: The myPurdue Plan worksheet is a tool to track your progress to degree completion. All degree requirements, minor requirements, and any other requirements to degree completion will be listed here. Use this in conjunction with your Plan of Study (8 semester layout). In the CIT department we focus on the block specific to your major and the “Other Departmental Requirements.” By following the plan of study you will complete the “University Core” and "Statewide General Transfer Core Curriculum." You may see different courses mapping to these requirements and that is ok! Math Advanced Credit Exam Students can take advanced credit exams to receive Purdue Credit for select undergraduate courses. Exams cannot be taken for elective credit, they can only be taken for credit in a course that is required by the student's plan of study. Your advisor must give you a completed Mathematics Advanced Credit Exam Authorization Form before you can register for an exam. Credit exams are not open to students who have received a grade in the course (or an equivalent course) or are currently taking the course (after the first exam). Students with W in a course are permitted to take the credit exam. Selecting a Non-Computing Minor When, How, and is it necessary? Some CIT plans of study require adding a minor while others provide the option of adding non computing minors or certificates to fulfill Interdisciplinary (I/D) Selectives. Each plan of study has a different number of required I/D credits. Students may choose any non-computing minor or certificate to fulfill the requirements. Many minors require courses that are also required on CIT plans of study, which allow for students to complete minors while also completing major degree requirements. Selecting your minor early will allow you the flexibility to fulfill major and minor requirements simultaneously. Entrepreneurship Certificate Entrepreneurship and Innovation The purpose of the Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program is to inspire and teach students in all disciplines to be innovators and entrepreneurs, whether they choose careers in start-ups or larger organizations. Through a series of five courses and related experiential programs, students learn the theory and practice related to starting and running new ventures, while turbo charging their degrees. (Courses fulfill interdisciplinary selectives.) • Entrepreneurial business knowledge and skills. • Team building, leadership and communication skills. • Access to a network of like-minded students and professionals. • Enhanced job prospects and career choices. • Hands-on real-world experiences to showcase to future employers. Eligibility The program is open to students in all majors who have approximately four semesters remaining in their academic programs. Upon completion of the requirements, students receive an official certificate, which is also recorded on their academic transcript. Applications in Data Science Certificate The Applications in Data Science: Undergraduate Certificate program will ensure all Purdue students have foundational knowledge of Data Science that they utilize “in situ” within their chosen contexts. Students who earn this certificate will have a foundation in Statistical Methods and Computation as well as Data Literacy, Management, and Analytics and will apply their foundational skills in related courses in their areas of interest. The non‐computing requirements may fulfill Interdisciplinary Selectives. Check with your advisor about adding this certificate.

TECH 12000: Design Thinking in Technology When registering for TECH 12000, Honors College students need to be sure to select “TECH 12000HDPT” and non- Honors College Students need to select “TECH 12000R” All students will also be signed up for a distance component in addition to the face-to-face time as this class is taught in a hybrid format.
Registering for Math MA 16010 - face-to-face (STRONGLY RECOMMENDED). MA 16020 Hybrid - a combination in class and online. MA 16020 Traditional - the "traditional" set up of lecture. MA 16020 (no letters at the end) - indicates you are okay with being placed in either the traditional or the hybrid section. MA 16010DIST or MA 16020DIST - taught EXCLUSIVELY online. Look up Classes Tool It is important to know how to learn more about the classes you plan to take. The "Look Up Classes" tool, found in myPurdue, can be a great asset moving forward! As you can see, circled in purple, this information lists what days and time the course is offered in addition to how many spots may be available in the course. When you see a flag here, there is a "link" between that course and another. This means Clicking on the number here, the you must enroll in multiple meeting times of this CRN, will provide a link to the course. This is common when there is a lab or course description. recitation tied to the lecture. Scheduling Assistant will link these automatically. This "R" means there are requisites for the course. Click on the "R" to see what prerequisites or other requirements there may be in order to be able to take this course. Other requirement could include student classification or student major or program.
