Listen to the Beegu story
Last week we explored using adjectives to
describe a character. This week we are
going to expand our vocabulary and use
adjectives to describe a setting and
objects in a setting.

Firstly, I would like you to draw and label each of the coins we
have been learning about in the video. You should label the coin
with its value e.g. 50p.
Answer the following questions in your workbook:

Listen to ‘Beegu’
Pause the video at different points and
look at the different settings within the city;
a playground, an empty park etc.
Print or draw the thought bubble below.
How many different settings can you think
of?
Draw or list the different settings you have
thought of. These could be in a town/city
or somewhere different. I have added
some ideas for you.
Describe each setting with an adjective
filled sentence. Write these in your
workbook

Grown-ups write12 ai/ay words from
yesterday’s lesson on post-its or squares of
paper.
Draw a bingo board each and choose 6 of
these words. Write one in each box.
E.g.
train player clay
crayon drain rainfall
Put the 12 words in a bowl and take turns to
pull one out and read it.
If you have this word on your board, cross it out.
The first person to cross out all their words and
shout BINGO wins.

Before completing these questions, please ensure that you have

Answer the following questions in your workbook:
Can you list all of the coins which have a value greater than 20p?
Gather your pile of coins. Answer the following questions using your
greater than and less than symbols.
Bronze: begin using the coins 1p, 2p and 5p. Can you compare
these using our greater than and less than symbols?
Silver: can you compare a variety of coins, including all of the
coins we have been learning about?
Gold: I would like you to also use your equals symbol. This will mean
the two values will be the same. You will need to use more than

Today you need to;
Imagine Beegu’s spaceship doors opens and describe what you can see.
Choose an alien planet picture below or better still create your own first.
Choose label your picture with adjectives – can you use some of the
adjectives you have learned this week?
Draw around your hand and label each finger with a sense; taste, touch,
hear, see, smell.
Can you add a word or two on to each finger to describe your space
setting using your 5 senses? Use the word mat below to help you.
Complete your setting description plan in your work book.
Additional Challenge

planet, and looks around at the strange
world that is so familiar to her, does she see
her friend?
What does her friend look like?
You could also design and describe an alien
friend for Beegu then when we write our
setting description tomorrow, you could also

Read over your adjectives from
yesterday and imagine you are
in the setting.
Look at your sense words –

from? What made the noise?
Print or copy the story starter
below and choose your level of
challenge.
Use the story starter
Write sentences to describe what Beegu can see on her planet.
Include at least one adjective in each sentence.
Check you have used a full stop at the end of each sentence
Try to join two ideas using and/because

The door creaked open and Beegu looked around… End your story with a sentence explaining how Beegu felt and why. Don’t forget to use ‘because’.
Phonics Challenge Day
Challenge 1
Write the tricky words ‘was and ‘little’ in sentences. Can
you remember how to spell them?
Challenge 2
Draw and colour some aliens. Can you give them funny
alien names using the different ‘ai’ digraphs you have
learned this week?
Challenge 3
Roll and Read board (Print or copy game board)
Each player will need a set of counters (you can
make counters out of coloured paper, stones, pasta
etc)
