SUNDAY, APRIL 18, 2021 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM “THRIVE: FROM STRUGGLE TO SURVIVOR” PROGRAM EVENT Location: Presented Virtually Presenter: Coalition for Independent Living Options (CILO) Description: The Coalition for Independent Living Options presents an eclectic event of live music, art, and spoken word poetry by crime survivors with disabilities. They will open up and share very intricate parts of themselves with you during this two-hour event! The West Palm Beach Police Chief, the Office of the State Attorney, US Representative’s Office, Palm Beach County Commissioner, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have been invited to give briefings and open the 2021 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week for Palm Beach County. A testament will be given by Keynote Speaker, Melissa Dohme Hill, a survivor of domestic violence, so attendees can understand the impact crime has, not only for the individual, but for the community. Palm Beach County Victim Services & Certified Rape Crisis Center’s Officer of the Year Award will take place at the Opening Ceremony as well as the FBI Agent of the Year to illustrate the hard work and commitment of law enforcement in our community. TUESDAY, APRIL 20, 2021 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM KNOWLEDGE IS POWER: DETER CRIMINALS, PROGRAM EVENT PREVENT CRIME, REACT EFFECTIVELY Location: Presented Virtually Presenter: D elray Beach Police Department: Investigative and Patrol Divisions Description: In this virtual workshop, police officers from the Delray Beach Police Department will provide education and tips related to fraud/scam prevention, human trafficking, stalking and active shooter (run/hide/fight). This virtual training is available to the general public, including the business community, the elderly, people from religious institutions, school staff, and anyone interested in learning what to do to deter criminals, prevent crime and react safely and effectively during an incident. We will honor all crime victims in Palm Beach County by highlighting and engaging in healing activities to include their personal stories, musical presentations, the presence of Therapy Dogs and the opportunity to participate in Guided Relaxation.
