James E. West Fellowship James E. West was the first Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America. He served in that position for more than three decades. Many individ- uals and corporations make these gifts either on behalf of someone else—such as in honor of an Eagle Scout, Silver Beaver recipient, a retirement, a special accomplishment, or anniversary—or in memory of a special individual. To Become a Fellow A gift to a local council, designated by the donor to the council en- dowment fund, qualifies for membership as a James E. West fellow. A minimum gift of $1000 in cash or marketable securities qualifies for the Bronze level membership. Commemorate this special occasion with the James E. West Fellowship. Tonight, we recognize our newest James E. West Fellowship honorees: Brent Botts, Mike Parsons, and Lacy Scott
District Award of Merit The District Award of Merit is a council award presented by districts in the same manner that the Silver Beaver is a national award presented by coun- cils. The award is available to Scouters who render service of an outstanding nature at the district level. We are proud to recognize the following volunteers for their outstanding service in 2020 and 2021. Jamboree: Jason Robinson Mike Lane Frontier: Mike White High Plains: Michelle Lynn Miki Forsyth Ute: Audrey Hammond
Alumni Award The award recognizes registered Scouters who help unregistered alumni re- join the program. This task breaks down into four categories of require- ments: Alumni identification and promotion, Alumni engagement, Personal participation, and Personal education. This year, we are honored to present this award to Keel Ross. NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award The award was created to recognize notable Eagle Scouts who had either performed distinguished service at the local, state, or regional level or who were known nationally, but had not yet met the 25-year tenure as an Eagle for the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award. Often, worthy candidates for the NOESA have inspired others through their actions and have devoted a life- time to their profession, avocation, community, and beliefs, at great sacrifice to themselves and their families. We are honored to present this award to Mark Stolowitz Glenn A. and Melinda W. Adams National Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Award This award o recognizes valuable service of an exceptional nature by a Scout to a religious institution, a school, community, or other entity. The award recognizes the Scout for his Eagle Scout leadership service project, which is part of the requirements for earning the Eagle Scout Award. We are proud to recognize Christopher McKee Smith for his project of installing new floor- ing at a residential youth group home administered by Rocky Mountain Kids, Inc.
Eagle Scout is the highest achievement or rank in the Boy Scouts of America. The designation “Eagle Scout” has had a long history since its founding over one hundred years ago. Only a small percentage of Boy Scouts are granted this rank after a lengthy review process. The requirements necessary to achieve this rank take years to fulfill. Since its founding, the Eagle Scout rank has been earned by more than two million young men. Requirements include earning at least 21 merit badges. The Eagle Scout must demonstrate Scout Spirit, an ideal attitude based upon the Scout Oath and Law, service, and leadership. This includes an extensive service project that the Scout plans, organizes, leads, and manages. Eagle Scouts are presented with a medal and a badge that visibly recognizes the accomplishments of the Scout. Only 4% of all scouts reach the rank of Eagle Scout. Since the Pikes Peak Council’s incep- tion, 6,787 young men and women have obtained the rank of Eagle. We applaud the achievement of the 162 young men and women in this year’s class, as well as thank their families for their continued support.

Venturing Leadership Awards Sophia Krska Sophia currently serves as President of Crew 789, Senior Patrol Leader for Troop 789, and is a founder of newly formed Sea Scout Ship 789, all of which requires incredible commitment and leadership. She is a Life Scout working toward her Eagle Scout Award, has earned the rank of Discovery and is working towards the Pathfinder rank and Ranger Award, as well as the Girl Scout Gold Award. She keeps busy as the Vice President of Ad- ministration for the Council Venturing Officers Association, a member of the OA ceremonies team, running both cross country & track for her high school, and she just recently completed Powderhorn Training and a Kodi- ak Challenge. Andrew Haworth Andrew currently serves as a Crew Guide for Crew 360 after serv- ing as Crew President, and he continues to mentor the current Crew President. He is an Eagle Scout with 7 Eagle palm awards who most recently has earned the rank of Pathfinder and is work- ing toward the rank of Summit and the Ranger Award. He is keep- ing busy as Treasurer for the OA as a Brotherhood member and recently started his college degree in environmental science to be- come a park ranger after developing a deep love for the outdoors at Philmont.
was introduced in 1931 and is a council-level distinguished service award of the Boy Scouts of America. It is an award given to those who implement the Scouting program and perform community service through hard work, self-sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service. Michele ‘Miki’ Forsyth began volunteering with Scouting in 1999 when her son joined Tigers. Whether or not to become a leader was- n't a debate she had. She just knew it was what a parent should do. So she jumped right in as a Cub Scout Den Leader for her son's unit in Pikes Peak Council. Over the years she has been a constant and reliable Scouter, volun- teering with High Plains District's events such as the Camporee, Klondike, and Pinewood Derby. Miki went to the National Camp Accreditation Pro- gram and became a certified Camp Ranger. She used these skills to instruct other leaders in NCAP classes, at Philmont, Peaceful Valley, the Jewish Com- munity Center, and Ramah in the Rockies to name a few. Miki served on the training team as the High Plains District Training Chair, but it was her work as the Dean of University of Scouting that made everyone sit up and take notice of this quiet and competent woman. Miki is a true servant leader. She gives of herself without the expectation of recognition or awards. is one of our Silver Beaver recipients for 2021 in Pikes Peak Council. She is an exceptional scouter who is always willing to help with any activity in the council, her service to the youth and to other adults is commendable. Since starting in scouting supporting her 4 boys in their Packs and Troops, Beth has served as a Tiger Den leader, Webelos Den Leader, Scoutmaster, Crew Advisor, Wood badge staffer, the Pikes Peak World Jamboree Contingent Scoutmaster, OA adult advi- sor, Merit badge counselor and as a Roundtable commissioner. She has participated in BSA High Adventure treks, at Philmont, Sea Base, Swamp Base, and also a Northern Tier canoe trip, which after returning, she would promote High Adventure by conducting presentations to units on how to organize these Treks in their own units. Always willing to help others, Beth has been active in her sons’ schools, in the local PTA and on many council committees helping to organize and promote activities in the Council in Scouts BSA and in Venturing. Congratulations Beth on an honor well deserved.
is proud to recognize the 2021 Silver Bea- ver recipients. Since our inception, in 1916, we have had 360 Silver Beaver recipients change the lives of Scouts in our region. We “Scout Salute” you! Mike Lane is always willing to help and give selfless ser- vice to the scouting units in the Council. He started his journey in scouting as a Cub Scout in The Longhorn Council in Texas. Mike started as a leader when his youngest son started his Scouting journey in the Denver Council before coming to the Pikes Peak Council. He has been a volunteer for scouting in many posi- tions at all levels. Mike has served as an Assistant Den Leader, Troop Com- mittee, Wood Badge Troop Guide, Asst Scout Master, Quarter Master for nu- merous District and Council events and Wood badge courses, Order of the Ar- row Quarter Master, Brotherhood Adviser, Associate Lodge Advisor and cur- rently serves as the Lodge Advisor. He has helped form two Troops, Troop 220 and Troop 79 where he currently serves as Committee Chairman. You may see him at Klondike in the kitchen, or the Council Camporee in Callahan serving pancakes, or maybe at the Starlight Spectacular with the OA Lodge serving pancakes to bike riders at midnight or helping in the kitchen at various OA Fel- lowship events. Jason Robinson is one of the most selfless individ- uals within the Council. He is always willing and able to assist in whatever manner is asked of him. He has spent countless hours mentoring scouts with- in Troop 194 assisting and guiding youth through their journey to eagle, staffing Wood Badge courses, staffing NYLT courses, supporting the Jamboree District as a training chair, serving as Assistant OA Lodge Advisor, Triple Crown recipient and leading units to both National and World Jamborees. Besides being extensively involved with scouting Jason is always willing to lend a hand within his community, whether that be helping to move a neighbor, helping a friend rebuild a deck, helping place community holiday decorations, or just being a great friend who will listen to your plight - he is always there to lend a hand. A proud father of an eagle scout, Jason has spent more than 12 years now being involved with scouting long after his son graduated out of the pro- gram. Success in training the boy depends largely on the Scoutmaster's own personal example. - Lord Baden Powell
