Winners at LAMA Awards
At the recent All Ireland Community and Council Awards, Tennis
for All (Shankill Tennis Club), won the Best Community Sports
Team Club and Ballyogan Summer Festival won the silver award
in Best Arts/Culture initiative.
Both initiatives have received grant funding from dlr and we are
delighted to see two great community services win awards this
year. The LAMA awards pay tribute to communities and Local
Authorities who work together to improve the quality of life for
all citizens. Tennis for All provides access to a world class sports
facility for all members of the community at a low cost. It was
the first club in Ireland to pilot a Blind Tennis Tournament and
is currently developing an in-patients programme for St John of
God’s Hospital in Stillorgan. The Ballyogan Summer Festival is
a week-long diverse multicultural event bringing communities
together through shared history, culture, arts and music. It caters Fernhill Park
