Term 1, Issue 2 Wednesday 10th February 2021 February Dear Families, Wed 10th High Expectations - Amazing Work Daniel!!! No preps at school One of our focuses for this year is having HIGH Thurs 11th @ 8.30 - 10am EXPECTATIONS of our students. I spoke to the children at assembly about this the other day, and I am pleased Uniform Shop open to say that they have been responding very well! Daniel Thurs 11th @ 3.30 - 4.30pm in Year 6 has done an unbelievable job with his I AM Year 5/6 Family Gathering poem. It is not only presented beautifully, but the actual Fri 12th @ 2.40pm contents of the poem are really personalised, deep and considered. Well done Daniel on a phenomenal effort in Assembly - SRC badges your literacy...keep up the good work. You are an Mon 15th @ 9 - 11am amazing role model to your brothers and sisters! Playgroup in the Auditorium Meals by Mums - What a Success!!! Mon 15th 3.30 - 4.30pm I have now had one of each of the meals prepared by our Prep/Year1 & 2 Family new canteen group, Meals by Mums and they have all Gathering been healthy and delicious! The children have really been enjoying them too and the containers and cutlery supplied Wed 17th @9.15am are able to be broken down in our compost bin, so we Ash Wednesday Mass can’t wait to get a process in place for that! Thurs 18th @ 8.30 - 10am Uniform Shop open Up & Go??? Sorry, but a No-Go at St Mary’s... The teachers have noticed that a number of children are drinking Up & Go Thurs 18th @ 3.30 - 4.30pm as a breakfast replacement or having them as drinks. Up & Go is clearly Year 3/4 Family Gathering marketed in this way, but there are real concerns about the health risks in drinking an Up & Go everyday. Did you know that an Up & Go has almost 5 HEAPED TEA SPOONS OF SUGAR in EACH DRINK? If you have one every work day, that is 25 heaped tea spoons a week and that is just so very bad for our children, particularly first thing in the morning. Breakfast on a school morning should be either toast or a plain cereal with some fruit, or something else that is nutritious and healthy. If you have any questions about health and nutrition, don’t hesitate to come and see us! -FREE PLAYGROUP- Did you know we have a free playgroup? No? Well...we have a free playgroup which runs every Monday morning from 9:00am until 10:15am. Come and have a coffee with some other parents and enjoy watching your child interact with other children. The program is run by Anna Hendy and is a fantastic learning experience for your child in preparation for kinder or school. With no bookings required, what are you waiting for??? Looking forward to seeing you all at the catch ups...hope you have a wonderful week, Terry Mr Gardiner’s Rib Ticklers… Mr Gardiner: Mrs Grenfell...what did the dalmatian say after he ate his lunch? Mrs Grenfell...I don’t know...what did he say? Mr Gardiner: He said, THAT HIT THE SPOT!!! Get it? Because they are covered in Spots!!!! Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha… Mrs Grenfell: Oh...Mr Gardiner...that is TERRIBLE!!!
