ST. PAUL'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH Income and Expense—JUNE 2020 $ (000s) JUNE YTD YTD YTD ACTUAL ACTUAL BUDGET DEVIATION Pledge income 33.7 187.1 180.8 6.3 Other income 5.9 29.5 26.6 2.9 Total Income 39.6 216.6 207.4 9.2 Total expense 24.9 175.9 203.8 -27.9 Net income 14.7 40.7 3.6 37.1 Dear St. Paul’s Friends: The table above for June 2020 and June YTD is from the financial report certified by the vestry at its meeting of July21. The Ministry publication of financial summary will always be dated one month back because of the accounting and approval cycle. The bottom line for June is that YTD pledge income is running $187.1K vs. budget of $180.8K, or $6.2K above budget (106% of budget). This reflects good stewardship on the part of our members, coupled with some advance payment of pledges. Expenses for June YTD are running $175.9K vs. budget of $203.8K, or $27.9 below budget (73% of budget). This reflects good cost management by the vestry and staff, as well as below budget level of activity due to the virus-related suspension. As mentioned in the May report, the Federal Payroll Protection Program loan in the amount of “9th Station of the Cross” $33.1K is being applied to May and June staff employee compensation, but the loan face value is not included in the YTD financial extract above. Part or all of this will be convertible to a grant under by Steve Hinton certain conditions being monitored by Finance Committee and Vestry. As always, copies of vestry minutes and vestry financial reports are posted on the bulletin board in the same corridor as the St. Paul’s Room. We are also mailing to your home and/or publishing in The Ministry copies of the minutes. This abbreviated financial summary is published so that members Given in love to St. Paul’s will understand the financial health of the church. Faithfully and for the vestry, Pam Reynolds LADLES OF LOVE—REOPENING!! September 10, 2020 This September 10th will be a new cycle for one of St. Paul’s ministries—Ladles of Love. As you know, after March 13th, this year, we regretfully had to close, as did many other ministries, due to the C-19 virus. At that time, we were reaching an average of 60 guests (80 was our highest) per week on Thursdays from 11:00 to 12:00. It was heartbreaking for all of us, volunteers and staff, to have such an abrupt end to something we all “loved” to do. Now, Ladles of Love will reopen 9-10-20. We will be providing bag lunches only—2 sandwiches, chips, individually wrapped snack bar, fresh fruit and bottled water. The prep crew will be just 3 people only, until we see how many guests we will serve. Volunteers will not be called to serve, but are asked to be patient and not to lose hope or momentum. Things will change so stay tuned! C.D.C. rules will be strictly adhered to. Absolutely NO GUESTS will be allowed in the Church! Guests will pick up their lunch bags and water—one guest at a time—allowing ample space for social distancing. Hand sanitizer will be provided and required, before serving. Guests will be asked to use face masks. Guests must not loiter and will be asked to enjoy their lunch anywhere, but NOT on St. Paul’s property. We pray for a strong outreach to all who are in need of food. Thank you St. Paul’s for all the faith, passion, love and support for this amazing ministry. It truly feeds both body and soul. Stay Well and Safe, with faith, Patty Woodall & Deborah Johnson 2

Pam seconded the motion, and the minutes were unani- mously approved. Treasurer’s Report Dave reported tithes and open offerings for the month were $4,895.96 under budget. Year to date, tithes and open offerings are $4,317.17 over budget. The Building and Equipment Maintenance category and Worship Materials category are also over budget. Dave said the Finance Committee recommended the funds to pay for the renovation of the downstairs men’s and women’s bath- rooms should be paid out of the Capital Campaign fund rather than the Vestry Discretionary Account. After discussion, Dunn made a motion that the bathroom renovation project be paid out of the Capitol Campaign fund; Ned seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Rector’s Report • Fr. Freeman said he has recorded the first in-church Sunday service and will record services through the end of June. • He is waiting for the diocesan re-entry plan from Bishop Logue. Fr. Freeman has a Zoom meeting with the Bishop this week and may learn more about the re-entry plan then. • Fr. Freeman has arranged for supply priests for July and August. These include Ann Heinemann, Gail Long, Gary Abbott, and Jim Bullion. • Penny Alligood, Parish Administrator, is learning to develop the Order of Worship – readings, Prayers of the People, and liturgy. • Nathan Alligood and Tripp Morgan are recording in-church services. Nathan records from the back of the church and Tripp records from the chancel. • Fr. Freeman said many churches are having increased attendance during virtual worship. Junior Warden’s Report • Carol asked Ili Si Malone, Dougherty County’s arborist, to look at the pine tree in the back yard of the Youth House. Ili Si said the tree is diseased and should be cut down. Carol is waiting on bids for tree removal. AA will contribute $1,000 for the tree and root ball removal. • The flooring, subflooring and toilet in the Youth House bathroom must be replaced. Mitch Mercer has suggested running the same “easy care” flooring throughout the house. • The downstairs bathroom project continues on schedule. There have been significant plumbing issues, including flooding from upstairs, during the project due to old clay pipes and old plumbing. • Cullen and Debbie Richardson have donated and installed an above-ground sprinkler system for the bed areas in the Lucy Walters’ Garden. • The newly organized Building and Grounds Maintenance Committee will meet June 25, 2020, at noon. Members include: Ted Wright, Allen Baggs, Lois Hunkele, John Dixon, Bob Fletcher, Pam Reynolds, Carolyn Hatcher, Carol Fullerton, and Fr. Freeman. Pam has inventoried past projects/maintenance issues and the committee will prioritize a maintenance schedule by month/quarter/annual for the coming years. Continued on page 4 3
Continued from Page 3 Senior Warden’s Report • Pam made a motion, seconded by Jim to request the Endowment pay $4,420.00 for the new air conditioning system on the east side of the Youth House, and $1,750.00 for the new tile backsplash in the kitchen. The motion passed unanimously. • The church received a check for $1,435 from Synovus to reimburse the church for the late sale of stock by Synovus. The Vestry thanks Senior Warden Pam Reynolds and Synovus for properly handling this matter. • The PPP Loan reimbursement period has been extended from eight weeks to 28 weeks, • The Vestry thanks Shanna Aderhold and Mary Helen Morgan for gathering items for gift bags for Bishop and Mrs. Logue during their visit to Albany June 7. • Pam met with the bishop during his June 7 visit to Albany. They discussed who will serve as interim priest starting in September. The bishop said he has someone in mind. He said he did not have anyone in mind for our permanent priest at the moment. • Pam said recording of the first virtual service went well. Two of the supply clergy were present to see how the service will take place. • Members of the new Building and Grounds Maintenance Committee will meet soon. Recently, Pam asked Mitch Mercer to take a look at the Youth House. The west half of the house is used by AA for meetings. The east side and the upstairs are used by St. Paul’s. After taking a look at the house, Mitch suggested to Pam St. Paul’s needs to develop a vision for the use of our portion of the building. • Pam said the Ladles of Love group is unsure when they will be comfortable to re-open. They have considered preparing bag lunches or making soup and sandwiches and serving them outside when the weather is cooler, but at present they have no firm plans to resume meal service. • Pam has signed a contract with the city of Albany for fiber optic service. The city will bring fiber optic cable to a point and Don’s company will bring the cable into the building. This will take place in two to three months. Old Business Annabelle, Scott Brown, Fr. Freeman and Pam attended a virtual meeting and presentation by roof consultant Jody Usry at the end of May. Mr. Usry was hired for his practical expertise in roof maintenance and leak detection. His report included photographs showing places that need attention. Annabelle asked if the Vestry wanted Mr. Usry to prepare a bid list for the roof repair items, and it was agreed that she should find out the estimated expense of his preparing such a list. Annabelle said she thinks it would be helpful to hire Mr. Usry to inspect our roof system once or twice a year to identify on-going maintenance needs, and she offered to email his PowerPoint presentation to the members of the Vestry and to the new Building and Grounds Committee. Annabelle also reported that roof consultant Mike Clark, of Michael E. Clark & Associates of Macon, inspected the roof on June 11 (after declining to come during Albany's sharp COVID outbreak). As a Professional Engineer with several sub-specialties, Mr. Clark has the credentials and experience to assess the roof, write a technical report, and advise us how to address our roof and insurance claim issues. Annabelle said that Mr. Clark used a lift to closely inspect the high sections of the roof and that she looks forward to the roof group receiving his written report and discussing it with him soon. Stewardship Pam announced Lisa Wright has agreed to chair the Stewardship Committee for 2020-2021. Angie Barber will be the Vestry representative on the committee. Fr. Freeman has downloaded a Stewardship manual through The Episcopal Network for Stewardship (TENS). The manual has good resources and new ideas for Stewardship campaigns. New Business Restarting Services –The Return to In-Person Worship Safely is meeting to develop plans for the re-opening of the church. Raymond James – Scott Marcus, Allison Daniels, and John Inman, IV, have formed their own group (Marcus, Inman, Daniels Wealth Advisors) under Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Advisors Network. Their team wants to continue handling St. Paul’s accounts and has requested to make a presentation to the trustees of the Endowment as to what they can offer. It was suggested Dave Orlowski, Treasurer, and member of the Finance Committee, attend the meeting with the Trustees. He will be asked to attend the meeting. He can then give a report to the Finance Committee for a recommendation to the Vestry. The team will also be asked to make a presentation to the Vestry on July 21, 2020. Other Business The next Vestry meeting will be Tuesday, July 21, 2020, 5:00 pm in Parish Hall. Respectfully submitted, Nealy Stapleton Minutes updated July 5, 2020 4
This year’s Covid 19 has brought many changes to us at St. Paul’s. Our beloved Barney’s Run has also been affected. For many reasons, the Barney’s Crew has unanimously decided to cancel this year’s run. We believe that running is a safe outdoor activity, however, we cannot insure the safety of our runners and our volunteers, especially considering the close proximity that we will have to share. Everyone’s good health is our CANCELLED primary concern. Who knows what this fall’s cold, flu, and Covid season will bring. FOR 2020 We are working on a possible virtual run for this season. As soon as we have details hammered out, the Barney’s Crew will let you know. Until then, we hope that you all will be safe. God’s Peace, Anna Hendley and Lois Hunkele 5
