Join The Poquoson Barracuda Swim Team ROCK THE POOL THE COOLEST PLACE TO BE ALL SUMMER The Poquoson Barracudas are a member of the Greater Peninsula Swim Association (GPSA) and host meets at Poquoson Pool, and travel to other local pools for evening meets throughout the season. Season runs May 31 through late July. Registration available at Community Recreation in person following 4/28 meeting. Note: Parent volunteer committment required for participation. Join the tradition of Summer Fun, Swimming & Fitness this summer at Poquoson Pool. The Poquoson Barracudas are on THE HUNT for swimmers to join the 2022 Swim Team! Info: 868-3580 SAILING Dates Times Cost: Program# Ages 8 & Up (Resident/non-Resident) June 27-June 30 9:00am-1:30pm $250/$265 220 July 5-8 * 9:00am-1:30pm $250/$265 221 July 18-22 9:00am-1:30pm $250/$265 222 July 25-28 9:00am-1:30pm $250/$265 223 Camp Location: Messick Point- Aquatic Resource Center Daily Note: Camp will meet at Poquoson Pool for Swim test and then parents will drive their child following the 9am swim test to Messick Point on the first day only. All other days & pick up at Messick Point. All parents must sign campers in and out daily. Campers should plan to wear a swim suit daily, with plans to get wet each day, as well as pack a lunch and plenty of water CAMPS and snacks. A parent letter for what to bring and health forms will be sent to each camper the week prior to camp for parent completion. Other Details: During sailing camps all levels of experience are welcome. No prior sailing experience is required. As part of the week’s instruction participants will gain knowledge of boat rigging, basic sailing, water safety & points of sail. Campers may and are recommended to attend camp more than once, as many skills are practiced & reinforced to grasp the fundamentals with boat & water time. Schedule: Camps run Monday thru Thursday with Friday serving as a make-up if needed for weather. *Camp will run Tues-Friday week of 4th of July, with Sat. 7/9 as a make-up if needed. Campers will gain experience on both sunfish as well as other equipment as experience merits. All campers will take a swim test at the start of each camp. Program is led by US Sailing Level 1 Instructor. Camps will not exceed 10 campers per week to maintain safe ratio for supervision. Swim Test is required to participate, and will be administered on the first day of camp to ensure campers are proficient swimmers & can be safe in the event of a capsize. Participant must provide their own appropriate fitting lifejacket. Participant spaces fill quickly. To reserve a spot, a non-refundable deposit of $95 is due at the time of registration. Camp remaining balance is due 15 days prior to the start of camp. No refund is available 15 days from the start of camp. Registration Opens for Residents April 11. Non-Residents April 20. Poquoson Municipal Pool Season Information POOL OPENS SATURDAY, MAY 28, 2022 Early Season Saturday, May 28 thru June 12 (weekends prior to school getting out) Pool will operate weekends May 28-30 June 4 & 5, June 11 & 12 Saturdays 12 -6pm & Sundays 1-6pm Daily Operation Begins for the Summer Thursday, June 16 12-6pm Full Schedule Available at Pool & Community Recreation Office.
