GENERAL INFORMATION Member Service Hours: Monday-Thursday 5:30 am-9:00 pm, Friday 5:30 am-6:00 pm, Saturday 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Sunday 1:00-5:00pm Phone Number: 803-547-TheY (547-8439) Mailing Address: 971 Tom Hall Street, Fort Mill, SC 29715 Website: www.upymca.org REGISTRATION Camp Registrations begin on January 2, 2020, and will remain open until full. A wait-list is available but there are no guarantees that slots will open. Register for camps in person at the Fort Mill YMCA at the Complex or online at www.upymca.org. Y Members will receive discounted pricing for camps. Memberships must stay current throughout the specified camp dates. If memberships are not current, non-member pricing is available. Full payment is due at the time of application by cash, check, or credit/debit card. Checks should be made payable to Upper Palmetto YMCA. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. There is a $30 fee (or maximum allowed) on all returned checks. SCHOLARSHIPS The Upper Palmetto YMCA offers scholarships to provide recreational opportunities for everyone who qualifies for fee assistance. Scholarship information is available at each Y facility and online at www.upymca.org. Applicants will be required to provide proof of eligibility for financial assistance. The process can take four weeks to complete. Forms can be dropped off at FORT MILL YMCA AT THE COMPLEX or can be mailed to UPYMCA, 850 Promenade Walk, Fort Mill, SC 29708. Attention: Caitlyn Brynes. CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY Cancellations made 14 days prior to the start of the camp will receive a refund minus a $25 cancellation fee. Camps cancelled within 13 days or less of the start of the camp may not receive any part of a refund unless the camp spot can be filled. If the camp can be filled, a refund minus a $25 cancellation fee will be processed. If camps are cancelled due to low registration, a full refund will be issued. TRANSFERS Transfers from one camp to another may be done prior to two weeks in advance of any camp with a $10 Service Fee and only if space is available. DROP OFF & PICK UP Guardians are required to enter the facility and sign their camper in and out each day. There is no early drop off or late pick up times unless advertised for a specific camp. Camps start and end each day on time and campers are expected to be dropped off and picked up on time. PLAN EARLY, SAVE MONEY! Waiting until the last moment to register hurts our programming because we need to give instructors enough time to plan for camps and participants. To help motivate you to plan early, we are offering a $20 discount off EACH CAMP, if you register for camps by March 31, 2020. Don't delay! This offer will not be extended. Bob Doster’s Metal Sculpture Camp Ages 9 & up Back by popular demand, Bob Doster, a local artist known best for his metal work through this region, works with your child to design and create their own metal sculpture! It’s amazing to see the unique sculptures developed from a sheet of metal. Your child can create their own masterpiece. No two projects are the same. Fee: $125 (Y Members receive a $15 discount) July 20-23 Monday-Thursday 9a-12p Camp Create Ages 7-13 Campers spend each day creating - giant bubble makers, journals, exploding volcanoes, solar ovens (that cook smores!), and so much more! Sign them up today for a week of fun, exploration, inspiration, and creativity. The take-homes are amazing. This camp has everything: learn in the science lab, create in the kitchen, explore your imagination on paper, and have fun meeting new friends and learning new games. Ages 10-14 A camp where your child expands their creativity and artistic awareness. Would you like us to encourage them to come out of their shell? Learn all forms of Comedy at camp this summer. Your children can learn and perform: Stand Up, Improv Comedy, Sketch Comedy, Situational Comedy, Character styles, Props, Comedy acts for stage and for film, Audience participation, and Comedy writing and character development. Camp concludes with a presentation for parents, siblings, relatives, friends and neighbors. Join us as we explore the world of pirates with new drawing adventures. Pirates, treasure maps, sunken treasures, parrots, and a grand pirate ship inspires students as they draw, using cartoon and realistic drawing techniques. Students love drawing our playful, expressive characters and complete several illustrations each day. On the final day, campers show you all they have learned over the week by creating one large scene. Get ready for pirate fun and enroll today. Drawing with Young Rembrandts: Monsters, Creatures and Creeps Ages 6-12 Laugh-out-loud funny! Mind-bendingly-creepy! Eerie-but-exciting! If your child is a fan of creepy, crawly monsters, this Summer Art workshop is the perfect fit. Campers learn to draw and cartoon a variety of characters and even complete a large composition using pastels. Campers learn to draw monsters of all shapes, sizes and colors - big monsters, little monsters, furry monsters, scaly monsters! If we can imagine a monster, we’ll draw it! A mouse making soup, a dog eyeing the spaghetti, and silly birds on cakes are some of the mischievously-delicious drawings students create every day. This camp can make an artist out of any rookie. This summer camp teaches kids about the 2020 Summer Olympic Games while they learn about and participate in Summer Olympic Sports centering on the following countries: Australia, Italy, Brazil, Jamaica, and of course the USA! We focus on the following Summer Olympic Sports: volleyball, track and field, football (soccer), golf, and gymnastics. This fantastic international camp educates kids about different countries and encourages campers to become the best Olympian they can be each and every day. Campers receive their very own JumpBunch medal. Campers should wear appropriate fitness clothing/shoes and bring a water bottle and snack each day. To be a super hero means having strength, agility, balance, and speed. We focus on learning special superhero training skills through fun games and activities, such as “jumping over hot lava”, “dodging fireballs”, “lightsaber training", “scooter flying”, and “ghostbuster tag”. Being a superhero also means having a compassion for society, a kind heart, and a willingness to do good and help others. Campers are encouraged to be a superhero in everyday life. Campers receive their very own superhero cape to wear during camp and bring home on the last day of camp. Campers should wear appropriate fitness clothing/shoes and bring a water bottle and snack each day. Minimum 6/Maximum 18 Fee: $159 (Y Members receive $15 discount) June 22-26 Monday-Friday 9a-12p JumpBunch: Sports and Fitness FULL DAY Camp Ages 6-12 Campers learn 3-4 sports each day, including: volleyball, tennis, lacrosse, handball, field hockey, soccer, badminton, basketball, football, track and field, cricket, and baseball. Campers play different fitness games, including: kooshie ball, slap ball, fling and fly, noodle challenge, flying discs, croquet, speed cups, net catch, wallball, and spikeball. Campers play 60-second challenges every day, including: chicken pops, soccer kick, football target throw, hungry hippos, noodle pop, clipboard pong, cup and catch, head bucket ball, and whipper snapper. Campers participate in a craft project each day and have free time to play and engage with camp friends. Bring a water bottle, lunch, and two nut-free snacks each day. Wear sunscreen and appropriate athletic clothing and shoes. Minimum 6/Maximum 20 Fee: $299 (Y Members receive $15 discount) July 13-17 Monday-Friday 9a-4p JumpBunch: Tokyo 2020 Olympic Medal Camp Ages 7-12 The Tokyo Summer Olympic Games will be in full swing this summer, so why not join in on the fun? Campers play Olympic Games with an international focus. Kids learn about and participate in Olympic Sports centering on the following countries: China, Russia, Great Britain, Germany, and of course the USA! Some of the Olympic Sports taught include field hockey, basketball, badminton, golf, tennis, and handball. This is a fantastic international camp that educates children about the top Olympic medaling countries, and teaches them a sport in which each country excels. Little Hoots Ages 3-5 Little Hoots Camp is for ages 3 years old and potty trained, to 5-year olds, who are entering Kindergarten in the fall. Each week, campers discover new activities, enjoy pool time, gain independence and make lasting friendships and memories. • A Tie-Dye Summer! Colors, colors and more colors . . . we are mixing color to see what type of funky designs we can make. Making this mess is fun! Get ready for wheels, wings, roller coasters and more on this Mad Science wild ride! Mix up some exciting chemical reactions inspired by Currie's curiosities and even dive into the depths of the ocean as part of Cousteau's crew. Toss in a healthy dose of castles and dragons, bats and rats, French fries and cookies, race cars and flying saucers, and you get the Playball Sports*Plus Camp, where the games are limited only by a camper’s imagination! Through this creative approach, campers are introduced to a wide variety of sports each week, learning fundamental skills for football, basketball, baseball, kickball, soccer, tennis, and volleyball. Camps are run by certified Playball coaches who supervise structured sporting activities, high-energy games, and playground time. Campers need to bring a water bottle, healthy snack, sneakers, sun block, and a hat. Our mission is to create lifelong readers by turning picture books into interactive, fun, and active adventures in learning. Campers experience the most creative and fun children’s stories, from the classics to popular present-day reads, to Derick’s own works. We combine interactive read- aloud, where we read with, not to, the campers, with spelling exercises, vocabulary words, creative projects, mini-plays, nature walk-n- reads, and high-energy games, all based on the storylines and characters we read about. Campers should bring a drink and healthy snack, and wear sneakers. Campers learn: Technical Skills-Ball Control, Passing, Dribbling, Heading, and Finishing; Tactical Awareness-Attacking, Marking Opponents, Tackling, and Shielding; Physical Development-Speed, Agility, and Strength; Small-sided games.
