Wairarapa Bush Rugby Union Ryan Cup Reserve Final Trust House Memorial Park 21 August 2020 LIVE-STREAMED on https://youtu.be/eSde5FCK3tE
Message from the Wairarapa Bush President, Doug Bracewell Congratulations to Greytown and East Coast clubs who have reached the Ryan Cup final. Despite the shortened season we have seen how resilient our clubs are. The standard of rugby at this level has been very good and player numbers have been maintained. Greytown and East Coast contest the Ryan Cup on Friday night at Memorial Park. Greytown have performed exceptionally well and deserve a place in the final. East Coast are the surprise packet. They finished last the previous year. They have had a fantastic year and this could be attributed to the excellent planning and recruitment the club did pre- season. Last Friday, Marist played Gladstone for the Presidents Cup with Marist the victors 20 -19. The club season has been noted for the wonderful crowds and also the on field and sideline behaviour which has been of a high standard. As a result of the Covid 19 restrictions the Council of Clubs, JAB Committee, Secondary Schools with support from Wairarapa Bush staff have had to make some difficult decisions. They have to be commended for making changes that align with NZ Rugby and Wairarapa Bush health and safety guidelines Message from the Wairarapa Bush Chairman, Jason Carruthers On behalf of Wairarapa Bush Rugby Union, I would like to welcome you to Trust House Memorial Park (via Live-Stream) for the Ryan Cup Final. I wish to acknowledge the ongoing support we have received from our major sponsor Trust House. To all other sponsors and volunteers who have made this evening possible, we thank you. Tonight, the game will be “LIVE-STREAMED”. It is an expensive exercise so I would like to thank the sponsors who have come on deck to provide this service for our rugby community. On behalf of the Board, I cannot stress enough how grateful and proud we are of all the delegates, players, coaches, referees and administrators who have taken positive and proactive steps during Covid and lockdown. At the end of the year we will all take a chance to reflect and I am sure it will be a season which we can actually sit back on with a lot of pride. This year has been about the clubs and as a Union we are only as strong as our clubs and members. Congratulations Marist Reserves for winning the Presidents Cup last Friday Final score was Marist 20 – 19 Gladstone
