ACADEMIC MANAGER'S
MESSAGE
Hello to all EU and APC students, we have put together
this magazine to help all of you transition into the new
Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). It is our highest
priority that all students at English Unlimited and APC
feel safe and secure in the current environment and we
want you to be able to call your classroom home.
With this VLE, it is our aim to help all students reach
their study goals and find a strong community of
English language learners. We understand that this is
an unusual and challenging time for you all and we
want you to know that here at English Unlimited, we
seek to be here for you in as many ways a we
can. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need
further information or have any ideas or suggestions.

VLE TEACHER PROFILE

Online classes! at first it sounded
daunting to us all, but we have realised
its only a virtual classroom and all the
learning and fun we normally have in
"live" classes have just been transported
to a virtual classroom!
Our virtual B2 First Certificate students
have jumped into this new reality with
enthusiasm and energy, we find
ourselves laughing a lot and it has
created a cosy yet dynamic atmosphere!
Vocabulary is easy to learn with
interesting visuals, grammar is
personalized and listening is more
interactive!
I'm so happy to see all these focused
students and I'm proud that I can help
them reach their goal.
Message from the Acting Program Director (VET)
We talk about 2020 vision, but no-one would have thought that
2020 would turn out this way.
The APC team is working hard to make sure that your learning
journey continues in an innovative and dynamic way and that’s
why we have developed our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
We are ready for Term 2. Are you?
Term starts on 27 April so make sure you have collected your
timetable, downloaded Zoom and are ready to attend those
important first classes.
I encourage you to engage with and enjoy the learning
experience. Join our Social Club to connect with the APC
community and enjoy Yoga, Meditation and other activities!

As a Trainer and Instructional Designer with
several years of experience teaching online, I am
excited to bring my experience and knowledge to
the APC Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
I am looking forward to sharing the power of
all these teaching tools with my students. Their
capability to organise learning resources for
students including discussions, quizzes and
assessments to really understand the content.
I am over the moon to be able to work with my
students on how they can use zoom to their
advantage in not only our teaching and but
their learning.3 tips to improve your English at
home

Talk and record yourself.
This may sound funny, but it
will help you realise how you
can improve by repeating
the recording several times
till you feel happy with the
results.
2 Stay connected. Don't
forget to find an outlet
to use the English
you've learned. Have
calls with friends IN
ENGLISH.

Articles on the web. Try reading
articles about topics that you
are interested in. If you are
interested in music then read
some articles on a few music
blogs. If you are interested in
something you are more likely
to want to read more about
something even if it is not in
your mother tongue.Extra A c t i v i t i e s Our new virtual Social Club and Plus and Boost classes begin this week. Now more than ever it is important that students engage with each other and their teachers. We have created new virtual classes that combine learning with fun. Follow us on social media to stay updated on the weekly topics in our PLUS and BOOST classes. Social Club This is a chance for you to have some fun and connect with other students. Plus classes We will also be holding Plus classes after our morning classes for you to practise all your other important skills. Boost classes are on Friday, and will be split depending on your English level. Boost 1: Elementary and Pre Intermediate Boost 2: Intermediate and Intermediate Plus Boost 3: Upper Intermediate and Advanced IELTS Mock Test We will be holding an IELTS Mock Test every Friday. What is a mock test? This is a practice test done like a real IELTS test. And you will be given a result that represents what you would receive if you took the real test. Please make sure that you register to participate as spaces are limited.

I’ve been working at APC and English Unlimited for over 2 years now in the student
experience and student care team. My role is to engage and welcome students into a
supportive, interactive and caring learning environment.
At the college, we provide students with professional support and extra curricular activities
such as yoga, excursions and other social events that were essential to support their learning
journey. Now transitioning to virtual learning, it is still our goal to continue supplementing
the students education with online activities that will help boost their mental health,
improve their physical wellbeing and assist their social connections in Australia.VLE TEACHER PROFILE

My online classes have been great so far. Being
able to teach over the internet gives us access to a
range of different materials and platforms which
we wouldn't usually think about using in a
classroom environment. My students have also
had a really positive attitude towards the shift.
Every day we have a new theme for how we
should present ourselves to the camera. For
example, today we all wore the shirts of our
favourite sports teams (My Newcastle United
jersey was obviously the best one). We are
continually developing the classes every day and
finding new ways to keep them entertaining and
fresh. So far, this experience has given me new
skills as a teacher. But more importantly, it has
given the students a new way of approaching
education. As much as I may miss seeing my
students face to face, this is a happy compromise.
(It also helps that I am always within reach of my
snacks at home!)Virtual
