Virtual Studio Workshops - Draw with me! In our hands-on virtual workshops, our instructors will show your students NEW - Workshops for Kindergarten and how to draw step by step, while also introducing them to some new artistic Grades 1 to 3 students are now on Mondays! skills, terminology and concepts. Workshops are an hour in length with short breaks in between. They are delivered through Zoom and will be offered every Monday and Tuesday throughout March. All workshops are free of charge but require registration via the links included in this brochure. Please ensure you sign up for the workshop that is appropriate to the grade level of your class. All necessary materials are listed in the descriptions below and should be prepared beforehand. Understanding Colour with Koi Fish Monday, March 8 and Tuesday, March 9, 2021 This workshop will introduce basic colour theory, including the colour wheel and colour schemes. The colour wheel helps artists understand and organize different colours in their work. Specific combinations of colours are known as colour schemes. In this workshop, you will design and apply your own colour scheme to a drawing of elegant koi fish. Cross-Contour Still Life Monday, March 22 and Tuesday, March 23, 2021 In this workshop, you will learn how to draw three dimensionally using a fundamental drawing technique known as cross contour. Cross contour lines travel across the surface of an object to give the illusion of form. Materials (K to Grade 8): Pencil and eraser, paper, colouring materials of your choice (pencil crayons, crayons, markers, etc.), black pen/marker/pencil crayon. Anique Jordan: Salt Series March 3, 2021 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM EST Register here In 2020, the Varley Art Gallery was thrilled to acquire Anique Jordan’s Salt Series (2015). At our March 3 Lunch and Learn, the artist will discuss this series of eight photographs, which explores sites of shared cultural, social, and economic significance in the artist’s familial home town of San Fernando, Trinidad.
