RUNNING TOGETHER TO SAVE LIVES AT SEA Dear RNLI Runner, Thank you once again for joining the RNLI Running Crew in one of the greatest running events in the world – the Virgin Money London Marathon! It’s not long to go now until the marathon and we hope you are looking forward to what promises to be an absolutely amazing day! It takes a lot of preparation for the race of your life, so to help you on your way we’ve compiled some useful information to ensure you know what to expect and who to expect it from. You will receive your official Virgin Money London Marathon final instructions magazine (or PDF if you are an overseas runner) at the beginning of April. This magazine contains essential information such as registration at the Expo, start locations and timings for the day, kit transport, route and water stations etc. The information will also be available to download on their page in the build-up to Race Day. virginmoneylondonmarathon.com/en-gb/event-info/runner-info In addition we’ve prepared the following information highlighting how the RNLI will be supporting you on the big day, including your invitation to the RNLI’s post-race reception as well as our two cheering station locations. Please read this alongside the official final instructions magazine well in advance of race weekend as both contain important information. You should then have all the information that you will need as a member of the RNLI Running Crew! We are here to make sure you have a fantastic experience running the Virgin Money London Marathon, so if you do need any further information prior to the race, please call either Georgia or Katy in the Events Team, or myself on 0300 300 9995 (ROI 01895 1850) or email events@rnli.org.uk before race weekend. If you have any essential questions on race day you can contact me on 07769 235263. On behalf of all our lifeboat crews and lifeguards, thank you for your support, we hope that your remaining weeks of training and your fundraising continue to go well. 1 VIRGIN MONEY LONDON MARATHON REGISTRATION Wednesday 18 April – Saturday 21 April 2018 Location: ExCeL Centre. For full directions visit the venue’s page excel.london/getting-here All London Marathon 2018 Runners are required to attend the Virgin Money London Marathon Expo to collect their race number, timing tag and kitbag. You will need to take your London Marathon registration letter (which you will have received in the mailing along with your final instructions magazine from the London Marathon organisation) and a form of photo identification, such as a Drivers’ Licence, or passport. If you cannot attend you must nominate someone to attend the Expo and collect your race number, timing tag and kitbag for you. Your nominee will need a letter written and signed by you, giving them permission to collect your items. They’ll also need to bring a copy of your identification and sign the declaration on your registration form, as well as a form of identification of their own (for example, their passport or driving license). The London Marathon Expo opens and closes at different times each day, so it’s advisable to check before you travel, virginmoneylondonmarathon.com/en-gb/event-info/virgin-money-london- marathon-expo. Weekdays tend to be significantly quieter than the Friday evening and Saturday daytime, so you may want to consider visiting in the week to avoid any rush at the weekend. If you have any queries about registration please contact the race organisers in the first instance. This year the RNLI had opted to have a presence at the Meet the Experts Day, in London on 3 February instead of hiring an Exhibition stand and covering staffing/expenses for the duration of the Expo. Hopefully we’ll have had the opportunity to meet up with a few of you at the Meet the Experts Day, otherwise we hope to help you celebrate your achievements at the RNLI post-race reception.
