VILLAGE OF EVENDALE DECEMBER 2019 Dear Neighbors and Friends, At their November 12th meeting, Council approved a contract bid to complete the Glendale-Milford Road bridge towers. Almost four years ago, Evendale officials approved the bridge design concept prepared by IBI Architects (see picture below). The bridge, which had to be replaced as part of ODOT’s I-75 widening project, has been under construction since June 2017. The tower bases have already been constructed. Evendale had to wait until the overall construction was far enough along to bid the finishing touches. The Towers not only serve as an impressive visual landmark announcing our community, they are a fitting gateway for our 3 world headquarters (GE Aviation, Formica and Gold Medal) and for AeroHub. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to add bridge enhancements now; because, once I-75 is done (projected September 2020), the Village would likely never get State permission to close I-75 for future alterations to their new bridge. Additionally, the sweeping railing system, an upgrade from ODOT’s standard railing, has already been authorized and ordered. Five members of Council and myself thought it best to follow through with the bridge enhancements for the purpose of adding long-term aesthetic and economic development value to the Village. Please take note that Council recently passed an ordinance regulating the use of golf carts throughout the Village. A few carts are popping up in the Village and we felt we had to get a handle on them now before any safety issues arose. Should you own a cart or have any questions, please contact the Police Department for more information. Finally, as we go into this Holiday season, I hope we can remember our blessings. We have so much to be thankful for in this Country. I hope you can join us for our Holiday Light Up at the Recreation Center as we begin the season. Sincerely, Your Mayor SPECIAL CLASS: Active Shooter & Stop The Bleed Training There will be two options for residents or business members to participate in this FREE training. Wed., Jan. 15 7-9 p.m. Sat., Jan. 25 9-11 a.m. Please call Evendale Recreation Department Front desk to register. 563-2247 (Max 20 each date) Our Evendale Fire Department will teach recognizing and treating life threatening bleeding, tourniquet application, Narcan administration, Epi-Pen administration and management of allergic reactions, how to make and apply a sling, and basic management of sprains/strains. Our Evendale Police Department will instruct what to do if you find yourself in an active shooting event, how to recognize signs of potential violence around you and what to expect after an active shooting takes place. RUN. HIDE. FIGHT.

For some, these activities involve the use of a motor home, travel trailer, toy hauler, boat, truck camper, or other similar piece of equipment (collectively known as “recreational vehicles”). As a reminder, recreational vehicles may not be permanently stored on a residential property unless completely enclosed within a permanent structure such as a garage. They are, however, permitted on the driveway for up to two (2) calendar days per calendar week for preparation or clean-up activities. This does not apply if a trailer or equipment is being used to facilitate a bona fide home remodeling project. In that instance, the trailer or equipment may be stored on the drive- way for the duration of the work. Under no circumstance may a recreational vehicle or trailer be parked in the public right-of-way. If you see a recreational vehicle or trailer on a residential property that appears to be in an state of stor- age or is parked on the street, please contact the Building Department at 513-956-2665. Your report may remain anonymous. Thank you for helping to keep Evendale beautiful! SERVICE DEPARTMENT The Service Department would like you to know that snow removal will take place, just like in past years, with the main roads require attention first. The neighborhood streets will be taken care of as soon as possible. Along with clearing snow, please remember to move vehicles off the roads to allow the plow crews to do the best possible job. Your help with this process will be appreciated. Rumpke requests residents to place leaf bags and waste containers in the same spot. The department’s branch chipping service will not take place when the streets need snow removal. Safe road are our first priority. VILLAGE OF EVENDALE - DECEMBER, 2019 Page 2
