DEDICATION This copy of the Golden Slipper Record is dedicated to Uncle Brian Moyer. Uncle Brian had an epic return this summer. Nineteen years ago was the last time he worked at camp, and after all that time we were lucky enough for him to join us this summer. With Uncle Brian, our activities and instruction were epic as well as our equipment! He takes care of camp like it was his own home, and camp activities have never looked so good! Uncle Brian has never forgotten his time spent at Slipper and he has many wonderful memories of his time as a counselor. When he moved back to Pennsylvania, he couldn’t stay away from returning to GSC in some way and started helping us during our Fall and Spring work days. Uncle Brian loves Golden Slipper; it shines through in all that he does here. He truly bleeds the gold and blue. Not only were we so lucky to have him return this summer as our Athletic Coordinator, but his Family was able to experience GSC as well. Besides his wife Jenn and youngest daughter Dani and youngest son Charlie, who have helped on work days and have seen camp as well, his oldest daughter Anna and older son Joey came to camp this summer as campers second session. Continuing the legacy of their father, who to my knowledge is the only recipient of the counselor spirit award during a 1st encampment award ceremony, both Anna and Joey were awarded a feather 2nd session. The Moyers are all Amazacular! On behalf of the campers who know you as coach Brian, the staff who you helped with running activities and getting equipment for, and for all of the extra work you did this summer to do anything you could to help camp run smoother…THANK YOU! You helped make GSC the best place it could be and it would not have worked as well as it did without your commitment, dedication, and service to the mission.
2021: THE EPIC RETURN We did it! Camp re-opened after a year off due to the pandemic and we were able to be at our second home. It was a very successful second session! We had lots of retuning staff and some 1st session campers came back for second. It was a fun time this session with a bit less rain so that’s a plus! I am also very happy our mitigation efforts worked and we were without covid yet again. Woo hoo! To our campers: I hope you enjoyed your time this summer. Whether you were an epic returner, or first year camper, I hope the experiences you had here were memorable. I also hope that any lessons you learned about yourself, or with the help of your counselors, you take back with you to use in the “real world”. Slipper is a magical place and I hope you come back to experience and help us recreate all the magic we can year after year. Enjoy the rest of your summer before school starts. Do well in your classes, be safe, and make the right choices. I can’t wait to see everyone back here for Summer 2022! Thank you to all of my staff! We had some epic returners come this year in new roles, or last minute they were able make it work so they could join us this second session, or stay for 2nd session. Thank you! Thank you. Thank you. Camp could not have worked without you and your efforts. Thank you for your spirit, your hard work, your flexibility, and the love and patience you showed your campers. Your love of GSC shined through and the campers were able to have such a good time after the wacky and weird year we had thanks to all of your efforts. Enjoy the rest of your summer, traveling, college life, back to other jobs, whatever it is that you will do after camp. Do well in your endeavors, and if you need me for anything please do not hesitate to contact me. I hope you can make it back for Summer 2022! You are now part of the GSC family, and family always comes first. Much love and later days, Uncle Justin “Spoon” “I’m on it!”
