about the LWC student experience.
We have included details about common financial aid terms, business office practices
and procedures and academic and student services opportunities.
The close of the LWC guide book includes the upcoming family weekend dates and de-
tails, as well as, the academic calendar to help your family with planning throughout the
year.
The final information page provides the contact information for important offices. Please
do not hesitate to reach out to us anytime.

Understanding Your Financial Aid
To better understand your financial aid award, please review the following items.
Institutional Grants/Scholarships: Institutional Grants and Scholarships are awarded by Lindsey Wilson
College. For more information, see www.lindsey.edu/financialaid.
Federal Grants: This federally funded grant (Pell Grant) is awarded on the basis of financial need. This grant
is the foundation upon which all other aid is based.
Kentucky State Grants: These grants, funded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky, are awarded according to
need to Kentucky residents attending Kentucky colleges and is subject to availability of funds. The grants are
available as a Kentucky Tuition Grant (KTG) or College Access Program Grant (CAP).
KEES Scholarship: KEES scholarships are estimated based on your current award prior to your high school
graduation and final grades. If your KEES scholarship changes after your final high school grades are re-
ported, your institutional aid will be adjusted accordingly to give you the same bottom line. KHEAA requires
students to maintain a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA while in college to remain eligible for the KEES Scholar-
ship each year.
Federal Student Work Study: Students work on campus approximately 11 hours a week to earn money
for tuition, room and board expenses. There is a 6% tax that will be deducted from the wages earned.
For example, a $2,500 workstudy award will result in approximately $150 being withheld for taxes. Earnings
are applied directly to student’s account.
Federal Direct Subsidized Loan: This need-based program enables students to borrow an educational loan
from the Department of Education. The loan is insured by the federal government, and the federal government
pays the interest while the borrower is enrolled in school at least half-time, during a grace period, and during
authorized periods of deferment. Interest will begin to accrue from the beginning of the repayment period (six
months after a student graduates or leaves school). The interest rate is variable, with a threshold of 8.25%.
All students that accept the Federal Direct Subsidized Loan must complete the online Entrance
Counseling and Master Promissory Note (MPN) at www.studentloans.gov
This loan will have an origination fee (1.059%) which will be deducted from the total amount
of the loan.
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan: This is a non-need-based educational loan from the Department of
Education. The student is responsible for the interest during in-school and deferment periods. Six months
after the student graduates or leaves school, payments on the principal and interest begin. The interest rate is
variable, with a threshold of 8.25%. Quarterly interest payments can be made while the students are in school,
or students may allow interest to accrue. All students that accept the Federal Direct Subsidized Loan
must complete the online Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note (MPN) at
www.studentloans.gov This loan will have an origination fee (1.059%) which will be

Verification
Every year some FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) applicants are required to verify informa-
tion submitted on their FAFSA. This process is important to ensure the proper amount of aid is going to the
most qualified candidates. If selected for verification, the student must provide the information requested or
he/she will not be eligible for state or federal aid. KHEAA (Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority)
has partnered with Lindsey Wilson College to make sure this process goes as smoothly as possible. To start
the process go to kheaaverify.com or you may also contact KHEAA with additional questions

Veterans Affairs
LWC provides a Veterans Affairs Coordinator, Kachet Manners, whose office is located in Financial Aid.
The VA Coordinator can be contacted at (270) 384-7449 or mannersk@lindsey.edu. Our office does not work
for the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA). We certify enrollment of veterans and dependents to the DVA.
Lindsey Wilson College has been designated a 2020 Military Friendly® School by Victory Media, the leader in
successfully connecting the military and civilian worlds. This designation is awarded to the top 15 percent of
colleges, universities and trade schools in the country that are doing the most to embrace military students,
and to dedicate resources to ensure their success in the classroom and after graduation.
Student Responsibilities:
• Apply for VA educational benefits at http://www.gibill.va.gov.
• Submit your Certificate of Eligibility and DD214 to the Veterans Affairs Coordinator.
• Complete the LWC Veterans Enrollment Form every semester, once you are
registered for classes.
• Notify the VA Coordinator of any changes in your course schedule.

Paying Your Portion
Lindsey Wilson College offers the following payment options:
Semester Payments
Semester payments will be made directly to Lindsey Wilson College. Fall Semester payment is due by
August 30 and Spring Semester payment is due by January 10.

Tuition Payment Plan
Monthly payment plans are offered through Educational Computer Systems Inc (ECSI). ECSI is a third
party agency that has contracted with Lindsey Wilson College to service accounts and collect payments.
If you decide to utilize the payment plan you will be charged a $55 enrollment fee. Interest is not
charged, however late payments may result in a late fee.
The following monthly payment options are offered:

ECSI accepts the following payment types: ACH (automatic withdraw), personal check, cashier’s check,
e-check, VISA (debit only), Mastercard (credit or debit), and Discover (credit only).
ECSI charges the following on payment transactions:
• ACH, personal check, cashier’s check – no fee
• E-check – $0.95 per transaction
• Online credit/debit card – 3.95% fee plus $1.00 per transaction
• By phone credit/debit card – 3.95% fee plus $10.00 per transaction
If you choose to utilize the monthly payment plan offered through ECSI, you MUST visit
www.lindsey.edu/paymentplan to set up your individualized payment plan.

If a student has a credit on their account, signing up for direct deposit will ensure that any overages are

Registrar’s Office
The Registrar’s Office is located in the lower level of the L.R. McDonald Administration Building. The Regis-
trar’s Office will assist with the following processes:

Academic Success Center
The Academic Success Center is located in the Everett Building. The Academic Success Center houses First
Year Experience, peer tutoring and a computer lab. Students are encouraged to utilize the ASC as a resource
for improving study strategies and other academic needs including tutoring in all subjects except writing. Tu-
toring is offered free of charge to all students.

FIRST YEAR EXPERIENCE
First Year Experience (FYE) offers a unique combination of programming geared toward acclimating freshmen
into the total life of Lindsey Wilson College. The mission of the First Year Experience is to empower freshmen
to become academically successful and socially responsible students at Lindsey Wilson College.
FYE Academic Advising
Academic Advising is designed to help students reach their educational and career goals. During an advising
session, the student can expect to:
• Meet their advisor and discuss advisor/ student roles and expectations
• Discuss any dual credit, AP classes, test scores, etc.
• Create and receive a class schedule
• Discuss programs of study offered at LWC

Writing Center
The Writing Center is located in the W.W. Slider Humanities Building, room 200.
The LWC Writing Center is to assist all members of our academic community in developing their writing in a
supportive, creative and caring environment. Our trained student writing consultants work with writers on a
one-to-one basis, discussing writing at any point in the process, from generating ideas to drafting, revising to
polishing.
We work with each writer, considering his or her long-term goals. Ideally, writers gradually improve with every
consultation as they examine their writing processes, habits and choices. We understand that no two writers
are alike, and our dedicated staff works to bring out the best possible writer in each person regardless of age,
cultural background or writing experience.

Class Accommodations
Lindsey Wilson College accepts students with disabilities and provides reasonable accommodation that will fa-
cilitate success. Depending on the nature of the disability, some students may need to take a lighter course
load and may need more than four years to graduate. Immediately after acceptance, students must identify
and document the nature of their disabilities with Mr. Ben Martin (270-384-7479), the Learning & Physical Dis-
abilities Coordinator. It is the responsibility of the student to provide the Learning & Physical Disabilities Coor-
dinator with appropriate materials documenting the learning disability. Learning disabilities are typically
documented by a recent high school Individualized Education Program (IEP) and results from testing con-
ducted by a psychologist, psychiatrist or a qualified, licensed person. The College does not provide assess-
ment services for students who may be learning disabled. Although Lindsey Wilson provides limited personal
counseling for all students, the College does not have structured programs available for students with emo-

Students have various study away from campus opportunities at Lindsey Wilson College. Lindsey Wilson
students may participate in study abroad opportunities in a variety of countries. Students should consult with
their academic advisors, the Financial Aid Office and the Academic Affairs Office. Students also have

Bonner Scholars
Based in Princeton, N.J., the Bonner Program is a national initiative that supports service programs at U.S.
colleges and universities. LWC became a college that provides a Bonner Leader Program in 2005 and
became a Bonner Community Scholar Program in 2011.
In agreement with the Bonner Foundation, the Lindsey Wilson Bonner Program's mission is to transform the
lives of our students and members, the life of our campuses, our local community and the world through
service and leadership. Bonner Scholars exhibit academic focus, social consciousness, faith-driven activism
and are self-motivated.
The Bonner Scholar Program is funded through LWC and the Bonner Foundation. The Bonner Scholars would
not function without cooperation from the community. The program accepts all forms of investments, whether
they are personal time or ideas. Contact us if you have a potential project for Bonner Scholars or would like

The Bookstore is located in the Cralle Student Union Building. The Bookstore provides:

STUDENT SERVICES INFORMATION
The Office of Student Services exists to compliment the academic mission of Lindsey Wilson College by pro-
viding a holistic experience that contributes to the cultural, emotional, intellectual, moral, physical, profes-
sional, social and spiritual development of students.
Student Code of Conduct
Students shall be responsible for becoming familiar with the College rights and responsibilities
as set forth in the Student Handbook. It is presumed that Lindsey Wilson College students, as members of the
academic community on the main campus and any extended campus, shall exercise due regard for learning,
the law and the rights of others. Circumstances which may lead to disciplinary action, suspension or dismissal
from the College, and which are otherwise prohibited can be found at www.lindsey.edu/studenthandbook.
Public Safety and Security
The Department of Public Safety is located on the corner of the Student Union Building (SUB). Officers are on
duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our mission is to work in partnership with the College community through
a continuing commitment to safety and education. The department is committed to protecting the lives and
property of the College community.
The department strives to foster an environment where diversity is celebrated; citizens of all races, creeds, re-
ligions and nationalities are made welcome and rights are preserved.
The Department of Public Safety and Security is responsible for assisting in the enforcement of federal and
state laws through its authority established by Kentucky State Law as revised and as directed by Lindsey Wil-
son administration for all safety/security and other emergency responses as may be deemed necessary on
the campus. Officers patrol the campus in vehicles and on foot.

Clery Act
The Department of Public Safety and Security prepares the annual security and fire report to comply with the
Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act. The full text of this report can be
located on our web site at the address below, click on Annual Security Report. This report includes campus
crime, arrest and referral statistics reported to the Department of Public Safety and Security, designated cam-
pus officials and the Columbia Police Department. Each year, an e-mail notification is sent to all enrolled stu-
dents, faculty and staff that provides the web address to access the annual security and fire report. Copies of
the report may also be obtained at the Department of Public Safety and Security located in the Cralle Student
Union Building or by dialing (270) 384-8106.

RaiderBucks
RaiderBucks are a safe, efficient and practical way to pay for things on campus. RaiderBucks allow the LWC
ID card to serve as a personal on-campus debit card. To make a purchase, just present or swipe your card at
participating campus facilities. It's that easy! The amount of your purchase will then be deducted from the stu-
dent’s RaiderBucks account. No more ATM fees for cash withdraws and no more lugging your checkbook
around.
RaiderBucks are convenient to use and safer than carrying cash. You, or the student, can easily access and
manage the account online anytime via the Blue Raider Portal. The
RaiderBucks account is automatically available when the student’s
LWC Card is created. All you have to do is add money to the card.
RaiderBucks also make a perfect gift for students. Parents and family
members can add money to a student's RaiderBucks account as well.
All they will need to know is the LWC ID Number as it appears on the
LWC ID Card and birth date.

Counseling Services
Personal and confidential counseling is provided by a licensed professional from The Adanta Counseling
Group and by the College Chaplain and Assistant Chaplains. Whether it is a religious question, a personal
relationship issue, a career decision or the need for an unbiased opinion, counselors are available and ready
to provide assistance. Referral to outside agencies is also available when requested or needed.
• Services are offered free of charge to all LWC students. No health insurance or payment of
fees is needed.
• All services are confidential, abiding by American Counseling Association Code of Ethics, state laws, and
federal laws. Any unique exceptions to this will be explained verbally and in writing by your therapist.

Campus Nurse
The Campus Nurse is located in the Blue Raider Sports Medicine office, which is in the lower level of Phillips
Residence Hall. The office is open to all students for the purpose of consultation, administering prescribed
medication (e.g., allergy shots), checking blood pressure and providing overall health information and general
minor treatments and referrals. Office hours are posted online.

Blue Raider Sports Medicine
The office is located in the lower level of Phillips Residence Hall. The center will maintain consistent hours of
operation in order to provide students with greater accessibility to the campus medical staff. The staff will pro-
vide CPR and First Aid Training for Residence Life and Public Safety staff and will continue to provide for the
campus nurse to ensure optimum care of our students.
Blue Raider Sports Medicine also oversees the College's insurance plan and provides guidance for students,
faculty and parents regarding the use of the student insurance plan.

Career Services Center
The Career Services Center is located in the Bonner Scholar House (Wilkerson) on Lindsey Wilson Street.
The mission of the Lindsey Wilson College Career Services Center is to promote various career services pro-
grams while assisting every student and all alumni in establishing, evaluating and activating individual career
goals and plans in which they find fulfilling.

Service Center
The Service Center is located in the Cralle Student Union Building (SUB). The Service Center provides a
helpful and courteous switchboard staff, state of the art phone services and photocopying services and per-
forms timely mail distribution for on and off campus mail. Students may also purchase stamps and drop off
packages.
• Mail Services
Students will be notified by campus email and given a notice in their mailbox when a package arrives.
Photo I.D. is required to claim mail/packages.
• Bluegrass Cellular
The Service Center at Lindsey Wilson College is an authorized agent of Bluegrass Cellular. Cellular
packages begin at $20.00 a month
• Photocopier Service
Each copy is 10 cents. The copiers are located in the J.L. Turner and Library buildings.

Computer Center
The Computer Center is responsible for maintaining computer resources for faculty, staff and students. It is
located on the lower level of the Dr. Robert and Carol Goodin Nursing & Counseling Center. They are also
responsible for the following services:
• Campus network and all networks and devices attached to it.
• Providing wireless access to the Internet from all residence halls, classrooms and public areas
on campus. All students are given a free network and email account.
• Gaming devices, such as a PlayStation, Xbox or PSP must be registered through the Computer Center in
order to gain access to our network.
• Support the telephone system and any problems or questions that may arise regarding local or
long-distance phone service.
• Providing answers to all technology questions.
• All students can download a free copy of Microsoft Office 365. They do have to meet certain criteria,
but here is the link: https://products.office.com/en-us/student/office-in-education
Click on "Find out if you're eligible" to get started. Students will enter their LWC email address and a
download link will be sent to their email address.

Dining Services
• Robert D. Cranmer Dining & Conference Center
Cranmer Dining Center serves 19 all-you-can-eat meals per week -- buffet-style breakfast,
lunch and dinner; sandwiches, soups and desserts.
Commuter Cost: Breakfast, $3.99; lunch, $5.75; dinner, $6.50; sunday brunch, $7.96
• Blue Raider Cafe
Offers a variety of fresh-made salads, sandwiches and sides. It is located in the Cralle Student
Union Building.

Student Government Association
The Lindsey Wilson College Student Government Association (SGA) is responsible for coordinating student
clubs and organizations for the purpose of student development and student leadership. Officers are elected
in the spring semester for the following academic year. SGA members represent the recognized student or-
ganizations with additional members-at-large. The diversity of membership provides many opportunities for

Student Activities
The Student Activities Office, located in the Cralle Student Union Building, is dedicated to providing meaning-
ful extra- and co-curricular activities to the student population of Lindsey Wilson College.

Campus Ministries
The purpose of the Campus Ministries Office is to foster a vibrant spiritual climate and contribute to the
development of spiritual growth at Lindsey Wilson College. As a college related to The United Methodist
Church, the Campus Ministries office seeks to exemplify the College's mission statement in which students
experience an atmosphere of active caring and Christian concern. The office sees itself as an educational arm
of the College in developing student leaders and raising their awareness of human need through programs
which foster altruism and service.

Intramurals
As a part of Lindsey Wilson College's Campus Recreation, Intramural Sports offers opportunities for a variety
of activities that may improve wellness and fitness, while providing competitive and cooperative activities
along with opportunities to learn and practice leadership and planning.
To sign up for an intramural event, please follow the link on the intramurals webpage to create an account.
Once signed into the program, you may either create a team or join an already existing team. Instructions are
provided on “How to Sign Up” on the link also.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA)
Student records are maintained under the provision of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974
(FERPA). This federal act seeks to protect students' rights to access and to privacy by limiting access to stu-
dent records to those persons authorized by the FERPA regulations or by individual students. Admissions, fi-
nancial aid and student service files are retained for five years following the last date of enrollment.
The College reserves the right to contact a student's parent (or a physician of the student's choice) when, in
the opinion of the College, notification is necessary to protect the health, well-being or safety of a student or
other persons.
Access to Records
Students may inspect all records pertaining to them which are maintained by the College. The only excep-
tions to this access are those records exempted under FERPA:
• Directory information, as listed in this publication, is public unless the student requests, in writing, to the
Registrar's Office that all or part of such information not be published
• Name, local and home address, telephone numbers and date of birth
• Dates of attendance, major field of study and degrees and awards received and
• Participation in recognized activities, organizations and sports (including weight and height or
membership on athletic teams).
Access to any other information, except by persons authorized by the student, is strictly limited in accordance
with FERPA regulations.
