Last Mile project “Last Mile”– project aims to improve the mobility of the residents, employees, customers and international visitors, especially Stop-Over-travelers in the metropolitan area of Finland including: 1. Jätkäsaari area in City of Helsinki 2. Aviapolis area near Helsinki-Vantaa airport and touristic attractions in City of Vantaa 3. Nuuksio Natural Park and Coastal area (about 40 km) in City of Espoo
• Funded through European Regional Development Fund (EAKR) and part of the ”Six City Strategy” projects • EAKR-projects supervised by a Finnish regional organization ”Helsinki- Uusimaa Regional Council” (training, auditing, payments) • Project application prepared during spring 2017, accepted June 2017 • Project started 1.9. 2017 and ends 31.12.2019

BUDGET AND FUNDING • Total budget 1,8 Mio € of which • EU 67 % • Cities 27 % • Rest 6 % other public funding • Metropolia´s budget approx. 200 000 € • Share of own funding 33 %, rest from EU funding
TARGET OF THE PROJECT The target of ”LAST MILE” – is to improve the mobility of the residents, employees, customers and international visitors in Helsinki metropolitan area, complementing the existing transport system by new intelligent and market-driven sustainable transport services. The target groups are companies that develop and implement mobility services for enterprises and end-users. Especially the travel industry is interested in utilizing the new services. Already 9 quick pilots in 2018 and approx. 20 in total by the end of 2019. 6

METROPOLIA in LAST MILE project 1. Background research on “Last Mile” transport and mobility solutions (2018) • Customers´ attitudes and needs and motivation to change their mobility habits. • Create Customer Profiles (Current and Potential customers) based on this research • International benchmarking study of transport services and mobility development 2. Planning and running company pilots with other project partners in the three cities and areas of the project (2018-2019) to test the new transport services. Approx. 20 pilots in total during the project. 3. MaaS Business plan modelling (2019) in general and with pilot companies. 4. METROPOLIA RESEARCH SO FAR • Metropolia completed a survey to 100 travelers at Jätkäsaari cruise terminal in Helsinki by end March 2018 to support the Jätkäsaari open call for pilots with transport companies. • Metropolia completed surveys to about 300 travelers in Vantaa (at the airport and in three hotels and one Café/Sauna by lake Kuusijärvi area) to find out how especially Asian Stop-Over customer react to transport services and what are the identified customer profiles. • Metropolia completed 17 interviews to companies offering services to travelers and residents on the costal area of Espoo to find out challenges related to accessibility. • Metropolia completed a survey/interview to 187 people at four places on the Espoo coastline and to 160 visitors of Nuuksio Natural park during summer 2018. 21

Last Mile - Pilots 2018 - Jätkäsaari • West Harbor Cruising Terminal in Helsinki where travelers can book in advance Easy Park parking space if they use DriveNow Finland car sharing service , September - November 2018. • Audio guided bikeroutes combined with electric bike-rental-service to the Clarion hotel customers in Jätkäsaari, Vapaus Bikes and Appsipaja in July- September 2018 • Direct Waterbus line and from Jätkäsaari 1.-9.9.2018 to city sights in Helsinki by Norsö Line . • Bout, P2P- transport platform for bouts. First short pilot in autumn 2018 (some technical issues with payment integration to get started earlier), service continued spring and summer 2019 • In preparation at the moment by Forum Virium a request for quotation for mobility services helping the mobility of the residents and people working in Jätkäsaari area, pilots chosen and tested spring 2019.
Last Mile- Pilots 2018 - Espoo • Nuuksioon.fi journey planner combining trails in Nuuksio with public HSL journey planner advising how to get to the Natural Park by public transport and how to find suitable routes in the park. Tietotemput Oy in September - October 2018. Will continue summer 2019. • Shuttle bus connecting two ”Hubs” inside the Nuuksio Natural Park and direct bus connection once in the morning and in the evening from Helsinki city center to Nuuksio. Tested 8.-30.6.2018, Natura Viva Oy • Vamos Nuuksio /Parkkihaukka – cameras monitoring parking situation in Nuuksio Natural Park. Cameras charged by solar panels. VTT testing in two places where the parking problem is at its worst 5.9-31.10.2018. Will continue summer 2019. • In preparation at the moment by Espoo Marketing a request for quotation for mobility services helping the mobility of residents and visitors in Espoo waterfront area called Rantaraitti. Pilots chosen and tested spring and summer 2019.
Last Mile- Pilots 2018 - Vantaa • Audio guided bikeroutes in Aviapolis area in September - December 2018. Few hotels providing their customers an audioguided jogging/walking routes or biking option in several languages with help of an special app and electric bikes. Appsipaja Oy and hotels Bonus Inn, Airport hotel Pilotti and Holiday Inn • Biking as a Service for the workers of some companies. Customers of few hotels and workers of few companies can test for free an electric or folding bikes included in the hotel price or as transport means to get to work. Companies running the pilot are Appsipaja Oy, Kultaiset Pojat Oy and companies testing it with their workers are Wihuri Oy, Posti Oy, Holiday Inn, Bonus Inn, Airport hotel Pilotti in September - December 2018. • In preparation at the moment by City of Vantaa a request for quotation for mobility services helping the mobility of residents and visitors of Aviapolis working places and touristic sights. Pilots chosen and tested spring and summer 2019.
