Community Connection Background Alternative Services ▪ Community Based Process ▪ Innovative Services & Products ▪ Customized, Creative Solutions ▪ Community Partnerships Kenmore-Kirkland Solution Concepts ▪ Community Van: Metro vans for local group trips scheduled by a Community Transportation Coordinator to meet local needs. ▪ TripPool: Real-time ridesharing between home neighborhood and transit center. Uses Metro Vans and ORCA fares. ▪ SchoolPool: Program of tools for parents, schools and districts to support students' travel, coordinate ridesharing and encourage active transportation. ▪ Community Ride: (pending NEMP approval) Reservation-based services for appointments, errands, and other local trips.
Community Van | What it is ▪ New rideshare pilot program by King County Metro ▪ Designated to provide residents with customized options for getting around when bus service does not meet their needs ▪ One-time or recurring rides, to popular destinations ▪ Available throughout the day, evening, and on weekends ▪ Trips must be scheduled in advance through Community Transportation Coordinator (CTC)
Community Van | How it works ▪ Community members travel together ▪ Group trips and stops are preplanned ahead of time by CTC ▪ Riders contact their CTC to find a pre-scheduled community van trip or to request a new trip ▪ Trips must have at least two passengers in addition to the volunteer driver ▪ Each rider will pay a Metro one-zone fare for the round trip while the driver travels for free ▪ Riders can suggest a trip they know is popular with their friends and neighbors ▪ Accessible community vans are available upon request
Community Van Details ▪ Six passenger van ▪ Consists of one volunteer driver and up to five passengers ▪ One seat is available for a wheelchair passenger ▪ Two vans in Kirkland + one in Kenmore (Locations: North Kirkland Community Center, Kirkland City Hall, Kenmore City Hall) ▪ Contact email: CommVan@Kirklandwa.gov
