Click on captions for further information Young people’s experience of schooling during lockdown Comhairle na nÓg are Child and Youth Councils in the 31 local authorities of the country, which give children and young people the opportunity to be involved in the development of local services and policies. Comhairle na nÓg is designed to enable young people to have a voice on the services, policies and issues that affect them in their local area. Carlow Comhairle na nÓg is funded by Carlow County Council and Co-ordinated by CRYS and is made up of 22 members from around the County. The members of Comhairle have been involved in various projects and pieces of research in 2021 on an array of topics already. An emerging trend in these conversations has highlighted the difficulties that online schooling is posing for second level students. In response to this we had a workshop to look at schooling online. Comhairle have illustrated their challenges and possible solutions that could tackle these. Furthermore we hope that: Young people will see that they are not the only ones experiencing these challenges They may take some of the recommendations on board Parents may see the young person’s struggles in a different light and be more understanding Schools may see it also and make some allowances or changes
