EUROPEAN STANDARDS FOR TOY SAFETY For parents and official inspections, toy safety is a priority. In 2018, market regulators checked out toys in 8 regions of Poland. The security of one in three products was challenged (30.7%). Our responsibility is to ensure the safety of the youngest. Who is really responsible for the quality of the final product, though? In accordance with the requirements of the EU legislation, the manufacturer is responsible for meeting all the requirements for each toy, confirming compliance with the CE sign. What if this product is delivered from China or another country outside of the EU? In the event that neither the manufacturer nor its authorized representative has headquarters in the EU, this obligation remains with the person who introduces the toy to the EU market.
With numerous product classifications, as well as with the large number of existing standards or directives, it is difficult to reliably identify the range of potential threats and requirements for a given product and adapt them to the child's age. However, such measures are necessary to minimize the level of dangerous risks which the toy could cause and prevent the possibility of product withdrawal from the market. Experts at J. S. Hamilton Poland specialise in toy safety tests, including mechanical and chemical analyses. In accordance with our accreditation number AB 079, within our services we guarantee comprehensive consultancy and research in toy safety in compliance with the norm requirements harmonised with Directive 2009/48/EC (Toys Safety Directive), Regulation 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council (EC) concerning registration, assessment, authorization and restrictions on chemicals (REACH) or other chemical safety principles.
