TRAIL MARKER www.RMUMC.com MARCH 2021 VOLUME 40 NO. 3 Sunday, March 28, 2021 Palm Sunday Thursday, April 1, 2021 Maundy Thursday Friday, April 2, 2021 Good Friday Sunday, April 4, 2021 Easter Sunday (see details for these events on Page 2)
Worship The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus will be celebrated at Red Mountain differently this year. Mark your calendars! Sunday, March 28, 2021 Palm Sunday. Join Pastor Jen for a Palm Sunday car parade in the west parking lot of Red Mountain UMC starting at 11 a.m. Come pick up a palm branch, drop off your donations for the Hope Women's Center (see article on page 3), and pick up your "Holy Week in a Bag" kit. Thursday, April 1, 2021 is Maundy Thursday - watch for a post on our website, in our e-news, and on Facebook to consider the story of the Last Supper. Friday, April 2, 2021 is Good Friday - God's Friday is the day for us to remember that Jesus was crucified. Beginning at noon, you can watch a video depicting the Stations of the Cross. Scripture tells us that Jesus hung on the cross from noon until 3 p.m. It is a somber time for us, and it helps us realize just how significant the sacrifice of Jesus was for all of us, even today. Sunday, April 4, 2021 is Easter Sunday! Sign up for Communion by Zoom at 8 a.m. or 10 a.m.; watch our online service at 9 a.m. You can also join us for one of our in-person services on the patio - be sure to make a reservation for 7 a.m., 8:30 a.m. OR 10 a.m. Seating is extremely limited, and you MUST wear a mask to be present. All 3 services will be identical in format, so no need to register for more than one. These services will NOT include Communion -- be sure to join us online for Communion, hosted by several of our retired clergy: Rula Colvin, Dave Mack, Mel Munchinsky and Ellen Phillips will be joining you online. We look forward to sharing a message of HOPE this Easter Season, remembering that there is always a promise of resurrection! 2

Children’s Jesus taught us many great things about how we should live and how we should treat other people. But some of the most important things He spoke were the things he told us about who He was – God himself. ZOOM SUNDAY at 2! for Kids! Starting Sunday, February 21, thru Palm Sunday, March 28! 4
Blessing Bag Recipe More than ever before, I am seeing people in the immediate area, who look like they could really use a helping hand. I hear God whispering, help them, but how? The answer, blessing bags. It was so easy to find goodies at home and fill a Ziploc bag. The bags don’t have to be anything fancy, they just need some basic hygiene and food items. Something so simple, can go a long way for people and let them know that they matter. I was so inspired by how impactful these bags are, that I started a service project at school making them. The more people who carry blessing bags in their cars, the more people that we can help. The joy you feel when you hand a bag to a stranger in need is far better than receiving a gift. I hope that you will join me in experiencing the joy of giving and making a difference in someone’s day. Blessing Bag Ideas - Water - Toothbrush and toothpaste - Juice box - Mouthwash - Fruit cup - Tissues - Peanut butter crackers - Wipes - Tuna packet (any kind of protein) - Socks - Any Non-perishable snacks - Soap - Plastic silverware and napkin - Deodorant - Mask - An encouraging note Thank you for making a difference in the world by spreading God’s love! Submitted by Abbey Fox Sermon on the Mount – A Beginner’s Guide to the Kingdom of Heaven You are invited to participate in a new study series beginning on March 7 and running until May 23.
