Crèches are fully registered for babies and children aged six weeks to five years, and Palmerston Centre are run by qualified staff. 01446 733762 The crèche is available for some sessions, please check with centres for availability. Vale Learning Centre Children benefit from the chance to interact 01446 736466 with other children and learn through play. Crèche places must be booked at the time of enrolment Please note: crèche provision is subject to having sufficient children for the crèches to be viable.

FREE ESSENTIAL SKILLS: READING, WRITING AND MATHS Essential Skills Essential skills help you get on in life and in the workplace. If you want to improve your skills or don’t have any qualifications, this is the place to start. Workshops take place daytime and evenings at The Vale Learning Centre, Barry Library and at outreach centres in Barry, Penarth, Llanwit Major, Rhoose and St Athan. Writing your CV Whether you are starting from scratch or updating your CV, our workshops will help you to present your skills and write a good personal profile and covering letter that will make your CV stand out from the rest. Interview Skills This workshop will help you to present yourself with confidence, consider what sort of questions you will be asked and how to demonstrate your skills. Application Forms This workshop will support you to complete a range of application forms using word processing or handwriting or by submitting online. Moneywise Learn how to manage your money, household budget and energy bills. Understand online banking, Universal Credit, comparison websites and bring down the cost of your spending. FREE COURSES: DIGITAL SKILLS WORKSHOPS Digital Skills Workshops We offer a wide range of accredited computer workshops for all levels from complete beginners to confident users. Learners are able to work towards a range of qualifications according to their individual needs and personal goals, whether you need to update your computer skills for the workplace, volunteering or everyday life. We offer courses throughout the Vale of Glamorgan; morning, afternoon, twilight or evening. Contact our centre and we will help find you a place on a course in your local area, on a day and time to suit you. Digital Skills Workshops are held at various venues in Barry, Llantwit Major, Rhoose, St Athan and Penarth. There is no exam or test. You will simply complete a workbook of evidence that will be assessed by your tutor. Units include Word, Internet, Email, PowerPoint, Publisher and Excel. You can progress to the ECDL qualifications. Digital Badges - We have a range of Open Badges that can be awarded electronically in association with CVCLP (Cardiff and Vale Community Learning Partnership). You will learn about child development, safeguarding and play. Intro to Hairdressing An introductory course for anyone considering a career in hairdressing. This course will introduce you to working in a salon environment, haircare, styling and treatments. Intro to Beautycare This course will introduce you to some basic beauty treatments, including skin care and applying cosmetics, nail care with the opportunity to consider further training. Intro to Woodwork and DIY This course is ideal for anyone considering further education and training in carpentry. You will learn to use hand and power tools safely for basic DIY and carpentry skills in the workshop.
